ROAD CLOSURE FROM MP376 to MP355 At Mt Mitchell

Read this morning that the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed from MP 376 at Ox Creek Road to MP 355 at Mt Mitchell State Park. There is a crack down the middle near 374.5 and it will be closed until further notice.

I wonder if it's the same area as earlier this year. We were in that direction sometime in April and they had if blocked off going in that direction, not sure what mile marker it was then.

This was on the local news and pictures showed the road cracked right down the centerline. The crack was pretty good and up to eight feet deep in spots. They did not give any date when it will be fixed.

I will be riding down the BR parkway today and tomorrow. Does anyone know if they have a detour mapped out in this area or are we on our own for getting around this closure? Thanks on the heads up though.

I don't think 8 feet is a crack. how wide?
