ReinyRooster Posted July 15, 2013 #1 Posted July 15, 2013 If this question has already been discussed, please direct me to the thread....can't find one....picking up my new-to-me 2nd Gen Wednesday and do I understand correctly that I have to pump up the rear shock manually for a passenger? If so, do you just use a small bicycle hand pump or what is everyone using? Thanks
ReinyRooster Posted July 15, 2013 Author #2 Posted July 15, 2013 O.K....I see the answer in a thread two down the line....disregard...thanks.
playboy Posted July 15, 2013 #3 Posted July 15, 2013 Hard to find those needed threads when your excited. Get yourself a progressive hand pump with a zero loss air chuck. Congrats on the new ride.

Thanks I guess we are both in the same boat, we are picking up our new to us 2nd Gen today, as for the pump, my 86 is a standard, I found a hand pump for the suspension at a local Motorcycle shop here in Hamilton (was actually Pooles, paid an $5.00 for the HD logo on the pump). My local Yammy dealer could get it but they had to order it in and I neededit the same day. YUou can also find them on ebay. Enjoy your new ride. Mike.
XV1100SE Posted July 15, 2013 #6 Posted July 15, 2013 Unless you are carrying a lot of weight and need more than 30psi in the rear shock, go with the Progressive 30psi pump. I've found that the 60psi is too difficult to do the front shocks since it is a high volume pump and even a slight pump is hard to control a couple psi. The 30psi gives you better control. You want both front shocks to be as close to the same pressure as you can.
ReinyRooster Posted July 15, 2013 Author #7 Posted July 15, 2013 Any idea where to obtain that pump? Thanks. Pics of the new ride...should get her Wednesday.
Gary N. Posted July 15, 2013 #8 Posted July 15, 2013 Any HD dealer will have the pump. I keep my rear at the max 55 lbs. all the time. Like the way is handles there the best. That bike is just crying out loud for wide white walls. Congrats.
ReinyRooster Posted July 15, 2013 Author #9 Posted July 15, 2013 Hey Gary! Long time. Ah.......no on the whitewalls.....
