George Zimmerman, the man accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter on Saturday (7/13/2013).

The verdict is the culmination of a case that captured the nation's attention and will undoubtedly be imprinted in America's history. The not guilty verdict means the jury of six women found that Zimmerman justifiably used deadly force and reasonably believed that such force was "necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm" to himself - Florida's definition of self-defense.

Zimmerman showed no emotion as the verdict was read. After the verdict was read, he smiled slightly and shook hands with one of his lawyers.

What are your thoughts?

As a criminal investigator for over 35 years, the only conclusion from the evidence, and only the evidence, led to the only legitimate outcome. Take out the fabricated racial issues, the fabricated crap the media put out, and the fact that the police did not originally find evidence to arrest. :detective: This prosecution was political and only political with racial overtones.

Many will disagree. I just follow the evidence and the facts.

But as far as I'm concerned: :happy65:

Having your head bounced off the concrete definitely justifies deadly force, which gives a person the "Right" to use deadly force to protect yourself. A seventeen year old is old enough to be held responsible for his actions, and it doesn't matter who started the altercation... :2cents:

The prosecution's case was doomed from the start. They never had a chance of proving any part of 2nd degree murder let alone manshaughter. The blatent media bias, the tainted judge and the interrogation of Zimmerman by her for testifying or not was disgusting. I'm glad that justice was served, I'm sorry a young life was cut short, but the path to Martin's destruction began long before.

remember the first decision was not to prosecute, after it got attention the lead prosecutor committed purgery to bring charges. Everyone in the media predicted the outcome after the prosecution rested, the state did not prove its case, key witness were caught not telling the same story in their statements to police immediately after the incident.

The jury heard the evidence and did not deliberate all that long.

this Whole trail should have never came about...The media as always only tells the side that fits their agenda. The media will do anything to take the pressure of of the current administration, see Paula Dean...This wasn't a trail about murder or manslaughter . I believe the media did what they started out to do. Now who will be next to be crucified in the media? :backinmyday:

Just in this morning: some are calling for the Justice department getting involved???

Wouldn't it have been nice, if people had come out and made the point, "After you knock someone down, if you follow them to the ground and continue the beating", you are crossing a line. If your bouncing their head off of the concrete, your attempting to do something permanent.

It's common sense... Hopefully people will learn from this.

I feel for the victims family... and Mr Zimmerman for having to spent all that time in jail.

Hopefully... he gets compensated for it... perhaps he should sue that AP reporter that edited the 911 call in an attempt to make this a racial trial...

I wonder what CNN & HLN will do this week since Jodi Arais and George Zimmerman trials are over. What will they talk about all day?

The talking about this case is far from over..... They will interview everyone that thinks justice was not served until emotions erupt and more new is made. I think that the media "stirs the pot" to make their own news:whistling:

You think this is over???

They can milk this for a week, easily and that's even if the Justice department stays out of it....

If we're going to vote on it though, how about the NFL lineup and pre-games coming up in a few weeks...

Not looking very good for the Steelers...

The original investigators wasn't even going to arrest Zimmerman. I expect these were very experienced law enforcement officers making a decision based on their investigation. I guess the prosecutor thought he knew more or had lots of extra money to spend...

:mo money:

Just from my standpoint: I too went through the crime watch program, I also went through the Citizens police academy twice ( 2004-2012) I'm the crime watch captain in my neighborhood for the past 9 years.

The rule is: being the Eyes and Ears of the police department. Observe Only.

Report Only. DO NOT PURSUE. as a crime watch member when ON DUTY. your not allowed to carry a firearm. But he was not on duty. and he followed his training. made the call to Ex-ray ( Dispatch) kept them informed. Lost visual and got out of his car and went on foot.

Gray line here- Mr. Z stated, this area had recent break ins. Grey line- should have not gotten out of his car.

It was imminent, that there was going to be a conflict . Travon: There's a white cracker following me. who approached who? who knows.

It happened. I just think Mr.Z. though this was going to be a question and answer thing. but he was wrong.

Carry concealed no one knows. Its best not to put yourself in that predicament at all. I also aire to the safe side. even when I'm on duty. when I carry open, all eyes are on you. and you know it.

Holding your ground if attacked is one thing. But following a guy, to the point of conflict, is something else. Trayvon had the right to inquire why he was being followed. why a fight started? only Mr. Z can answer that question.

also as a crime watch member, you are required to carry City ID Badge. and it must be visible.

My 2 cents: I'm staying Neutral ( two wrongs, Don't Make a right )

The Governor of Florida ordered the prosecution to try this case...

I believe the prosecution knew they didn't have a case but proceed, on orders from the governors office... he did it because he knew their could be riots if he didn't do something.

End result... grieving parents drug thru the coals, huge waste of taxpayer money, a man incarcerated for months. unjustly
