FBI Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) i am 230 lbs feel every bump and crack in road. What would be a good pressure to put in rear shock. 05 Venture Thanks. Edited July 13, 2013 by FBI and info
Squidley Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Depends upon what kind of ride you want. At 230 lbs a softer ride would be 25 to 30 lbs in the rear shock. 30 to 45 lbs more firm and the max on the rear pressure is 55lbs. Try some different pressures, make sure if you dont have a hand pump, like a progressive, that you get one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PROGRESSIVE-MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-HAND-AIR-SHOCK-PUMP-FOR-HARLEY-METRIC-UNIV-070660-/140931352516?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20d029c7c4&vxp=mtr Dont use your air compressor to inflate the shock, you could blow the seal out of it.
M61A1MECH Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 The volume of the shock is so small that any sort of electrical driven compressure is likely to put out to much volume and damage the shock. Plus typically electric air compressors do not come with zero los chucks, so when you disconnect the fitting from the stem you lose some pressure, The hand pump mentioned by Squidly is what you need. Same idea goes for the front forks, hand pump only with zero loss chuck.
Squidley Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 would a 12 volt pump work? If you have a bicycle tire pump, thats what I would use. The 12 volt may work, but I would hate to chance blowing the seal in the shock.
