ReinyRooster Posted July 9, 2013 #1 Posted July 9, 2013 The Wing is a great bike in many respects but the seating position was causing my hip all kinds of problems...couldn't rider for more then about 20 minutes at a time! So...the Wing sold last night and I am now seriously hunting for a 2nd Gen.....something between 2003-2007 perhaps....really like some of the various red/purple or the two-tone green colours available. There are some really nice one listed here in the classifieds....the biggest problem for me is the distance to get to them....it would be a two trip adventure and can get expensive with the greater distances....... Anyway.....I hope you will put up with what may seem like stupid questions once I buy a bike but this will be my first 2nd Gen so there will be a learning curve. It is great to be back!!!! Looking forward to some meet N greet opportunities.

ReinyRooster Posted July 9, 2013 Author #5 Posted July 9, 2013 Don...appreciate the info....you on commission?? LOL! have looked at all of those but I'm only looking to spend about $9500.00....there are a few around that fit the bill other then they are black, and the boss doesn't like the black...she says they look too much like a Harley. She is trying to slow me down on the hope that "the right one" will come up soon. Lost out on two nice ones I was watching....a nice Raven Red one and a two-tone green....oh well...I'll keep looking.
PD1313 Posted July 9, 2013 #6 Posted July 9, 2013 Save some $$$$$ $6200 - with owner history available!!! 1.5 Hours from your home! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79994 and.... Chicks dig the Millennium!!!!
YamaDuck Posted July 9, 2013 #7 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm going out on a limb here but I assume the Canadian versions are the same color as the US versions. if that is true your requirement for a 03 to 07 limits your color chooses. I have a two toned green and they are 01's. The purples are 99's. There was a two toned red in 03 a black cherry in 06. There may be some other red versions in the 03 to 07 years I'm not sure. All those years had a black version. Unless it has a custom paint I think you will have to settle for some shade of red. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.
ReinyRooster Posted July 9, 2013 Author #8 Posted July 9, 2013 PD1313...thanks for the info but there are many around with less then half of that mileage...I wanna put the miles on myself. I may end up going with the Midnight.....she may just have to learn to live with it...like she did with me!!
YamaDuck Posted July 9, 2013 #9 Posted July 9, 2013 You can always paint flames on it or have it painted if you end up with a midnight.
flyM92 Posted July 9, 2013 #10 Posted July 9, 2013 Too bad you are so far away, $9500 would buy my '08 midnight, marroon/black , showing 22,xxx miles, new tires, everything works as it should, runs great, just returned from a 1700 mi ride, averaged 42 mpg, never any damage. Just turned 73 time to slow down,,, good luck
XV1100SE Posted July 10, 2013 #11 Posted July 10, 2013 .... Just turned 73 time to slow down,,, Somebody has to say it.... so you going to get a 1st gen to slow you down ?
BradT Posted July 10, 2013 #13 Posted July 10, 2013 Somebody has to say it.... so you going to get a 1st gen to slow you down ? Bwahahahahaha!! Don he sold his First gen for the wing ...... Does his comment make any sense. Reiny try across the border, private is best (if you can trust the seller) at dealers be careful some states have to charge tax, some do not and that is where the saving comes in. Woodstock Yami dealer has a new grey one for 19k and change.. Brad
chabicheka Posted July 10, 2013 #15 Posted July 10, 2013 Check with Abdul,,, Chabicheka Thanks Carl....we already talked. Reiny is looking for something with lesser mileage.
Marcarl Posted July 10, 2013 #16 Posted July 10, 2013 Call 519.four,four 9.5758 in Burford. It's an 09 he thinks, hasn't been ridden for 2 years, he has a cancer problem. He bought it new, now has about 8 to 10k on it. Make him an offer. Black on red. Always inside, and I don't think he ever dropped it. He says it's too heavy for him now. I wonder if it's ever been in the rain even. Can be a real good deal and will fit your better half and her color desires.
Trader Posted July 10, 2013 #17 Posted July 10, 2013 Don't be shy about bringing a bike over the border. I bought my 88 on ebay from near Chicago.....certainly a leap of faith but it was worth it. I was surprised at how little red tape there was to get it across the border! The 1100 mile ride home gave me a great chance to get to know the bike.
ReinyRooster Posted July 10, 2013 Author #18 Posted July 10, 2013 Not opposed to bringing one across but the ones I looked at nearby are about the same price so there's no savings in the end, and the ones that are better priced are that far away that the better price is offset by the travel/motel and fees involved.....not ruling it out though.
dacheedah Posted July 10, 2013 #19 Posted July 10, 2013 fly in ride out and the international is a commin

It was new looking when I saw it. All the best to him and his family Brad
