99 venture oil

I bought a 99 venture a month ago, getting ready to change oil, whats everyone using as far as wt (10-40,20-40,20-50)??

I use Rotella T-6 full synthetic(5W-40) and it's on sale at Autozone for 19.99 a gallon.

I use 20/50 Castrol. Plain old car oil!! In my opinion anything else is a good way to throw money away!!!Use a good oil and change it as you should. OK back to the corner.....

I use the yamalube ( mostly because i'm still under warranty ) manual suggests 10w30 for cold weather, 20w50 for hot weather.

 

Most dino is ok as long as no friction modifiers

 

No matter what oil you choose replace the crush washer (214-11198-01-00) and torque to 31 ft lbs

Thanks guys. I always used 20-50 in my 83 venture and have been happy with that. The book on the 99 shows 10-30 or 20-40 but nobody has 20-40.

Yamaha used to make it but I haven't seen it in a while. The 10w-30 or 20w-50 pretty much cover the operating temperature you will be in.
