BG Hawks Posted July 6, 2013 #1 Posted July 6, 2013 Received my Carbtune a couple of weeks ago but timing was bad and had to wait; finally broke it out of the package and hooked it up. First time took 1 hour with a run to the hardware store(Long story). Test road it and not happy. 2nd try a little better only 1/2 hour, obviously no run to the hardware store. Got a hold of Cougar who road up to my house yesterday morning, of course I was not home as I ran to put gas in the bike. Got home and 10 minutes later the carbs were synched! Hooked up my carbtune and it come to find out my Port 4 is bent. Emailing Carbtune today about getting an exchange. Spent the next 20 minutes going over the bikes; time well spent. Got Cougar back to the interstate with a quick test ride and it was smooth. THANK YOU COUGAR!

Anyways, SURE MARK !!! Mike and I will ride up to give you hand one day :-) Mike, Still looking for a owner for this almost new slightly cupped Dunlap 404... otherwise next week it stays at the tire shop.
BG Hawks Posted July 7, 2013 Author #5 Posted July 7, 2013 Count me in on the ride to Nebraska; that would be fun!
billmac Posted July 7, 2013 #6 Posted July 7, 2013 I also just got a carbtune a couple of days ago. got it put together tonight like the instructions said and may try it in the morning, not sure which screws too turn but I think I will be able to hook it up too see if their out of sync.
Freebird Posted July 7, 2013 #7 Posted July 7, 2013 Follow these instructions. Very easy. If you have a manual, there is a major error...at least in the earlier manuals....so use these instructions, NOT the one in the service manual. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258
Cougar Posted July 7, 2013 #8 Posted July 7, 2013 and don't add those little doohickey mabobs to the hoses as well.
Phoneman1981 Posted July 7, 2013 #9 Posted July 7, 2013 We would be honored if you ever get a chance to ride this way. Hoping to continue meeting as many members as I can. Sad that we can't ride east and make the International this year. But we are riding as much as we can locally. May make Sturgis the last weekend this year afterall?
Cougar Posted July 7, 2013 #10 Posted July 7, 2013 Mark, even you don't have one, plenty of us do. If you are headed to Iowa sometime soon just give a holler and I will bring one to you then we eat some lunch have ice cream and tune your carbs. Jeff

If you have a manual, there is a major error...at least in the earlier manuals....so use these instructions, NOT the one in the service manual. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 Thanks for the info. Connected the carbtune to check the level and they were off. got out my trusty screw drivers and made the adjustments. Holy cr*p what a difference quicker and seems faster with more power, thought I was gonna pop a wheele in 2nd.lol
rbig1 Posted July 8, 2013 #14 Posted July 8, 2013 can you by a carb tune locally. and how expensive are they. or do you buy off fleabay. need to buy one for myself and kids will end up with it. i dont think bike is too far off kind of blips at decell. wife even hears it. and Cougar is there a run from casino to duckys this year think i can trust the bike now and i have heard you have to where goggles in ill. is that true.
Cougar Posted July 8, 2013 #15 Posted July 8, 2013 Run to Ducky's was canceled this year. We can meet at the Casino Parking lot one day of you wish and we can do your carbs. I think the only place to get a carbtune is direct. I could be wrong tho. Let me know. I have not heard anything about wearing googles in IL. Jeff
Phoneman1981 Posted July 8, 2013 #16 Posted July 8, 2013 Jeff: Thanks for the offer. That sounds like a win win deal. I do not have a carb tune as of yet. I did observe a carb sync at Kreg's MD, but due to blizzard conditions the bikes stayed at home. Thanks again.
Cougar Posted July 8, 2013 #17 Posted July 8, 2013 Mark just let me know a head of time... Are you going the International? I am sure some there will have a carbtune. But I will bring mine as well. I am only there on Sunday for a few hours or so. OR we can meet up another time ! Jeff
Phoneman1981 Posted July 8, 2013 #18 Posted July 8, 2013 Sadly we are going to have to cancel on the international this year. Thanks again for the offer.
