tomephil Posted July 5, 2013 #1 Posted July 5, 2013 Hi, I have installed a clearview windshield and when I took the plastic wrapping off the glue stayed behind the shield. Basically the top inside 1/2 of the shield was covered in this glue, (right where I look). I have tried for a few hours to get this off and I now have a 1/3rd cleaned. Has anyone had better luck and if so, what did you use. I have tried the supplied cleaner, tried paint thinner and Crisco oil and extra virgin olive oil. Is there something better to use? Tom
BuckShot Posted July 5, 2013 #2 Posted July 5, 2013 I used Goo Gone on mine. Then washed with warm water and mild detergent. Followed by Novus 1 to be sure I got all the Goo Gone off.
ragtop69gs Posted July 5, 2013 #3 Posted July 5, 2013 Howdy Tom, Happy Canada day to you and Terri. Finally getting a new shield on there eh ? Do not over tighten it, we don't want any cracks in this one. We gonna see you two at Galena ?
tomephil Posted July 5, 2013 Author #5 Posted July 5, 2013 The person from clearview called me on a previous matter and told me to use isopropyl alcohol.I could find no reference to this on their website. It looks to be off now.
tomephil Posted July 5, 2013 Author #6 Posted July 5, 2013 Howdy Tom, Happy Canada day to you and Terri. Finally getting a new shield on there eh ? Do not over tighten it, we don't want any cracks in this one. We gonna see you two at Galena ? Yea, still plastic welding the cowling and I still feel these windshields are too heavy and big for these bikes. I have a shorter one, will see how it works. Yep, we are planing on attending. Looks like my rear shock is going so I am trying to find a replacement in time. But I do like red bikes... Looking forward to seeing you guys! Tom
