more info on Triwing kit

I asked Triwing if they would send me some pictures of the frame work and suspension and said no its a copy right thing. Before I buy a kit I want to see what I am getting. Is it IRS or Solid axle sounds like drum brakes not disc brakes. I like the looks of the body its not just the looks its the ride. There are not many kits out there that you can install your self. I have been a long time mechanic and built many offroad cars so installing a kit would be a fun thing to do. I see some of you have Triwing kits any pictures of the frame and you installing it. I also have been looking at American trike kit. Thank you for any pictures or help you send me about this kit or any other self installed kits. I have had one knee replacment and going to have my other knee replaced next month so thats why Iam going to a trike so we can keep riding. Glenn

I had my '99 Triked last year with the Hannigan kit. I don't believe there can be a better choice because of the appearance and design, the paint quality, the mechanics, the ride, the handling, and the perfect fit. Expensive, but I'm a happy camper! Owen

Yup! For the RSV you have 2 choices, Triwing or Hannigan. Triwing is do it yourself whereas Hannigan is installed only. The Triwing is solid axle drum brakes, the Hannigan is IRS and disc brakes. The Hannigan is twice the price but well worth it! If you McGuiver in a bigger master cylinder then you can run disc brakes in the Triwing.

The triwing kit is a solid axle with drum brakes. Carbon1 would be able to tell you all about it. I do believe he installed one on his first trike. You have to provide the wheels and tires for this kit, thats why it is so reasonable, and then there is the paint.

What the guys have said so far it true. I've owned both, a Tri-Wing 05 RSV converted by myself and currently own a 09 w/Hannigan converted at the factory.

After it's all said and done the Hannigan will cost 2 to 6k over the cost of a Tri-Wing depending on options with either company.

I love the ride of the Hannigan as does the wife. A solid axle will jar you more on rough roads. I believe handling is better for the Hannigan as well as the lower, wider & longer wheel base hugs the roads better in twisties.

I did put over 35,000 miles on the Tri-Wing up until last fall when I got "T"boned by a cage and enjoyed ever mile I had it.

Thank you, For all of you getting back to me so fast. Carbon One that would be great if you can send pictures of your build of the Triwing. Jonesy sent some pictures Thanks. Did you guys put a rake kit on or do you need it or not. Also can you add a reverse to it if so what did you use to make it that would help my knees. What do think about adding shock brackets and shocks by the bags to help the ride on rough roads. How is stopping with the drum brakes. I will be repainting the bike to the new Camaro green. I do like the Hannigan but the $$$ are alot more when your retired. Also I want to do the build for the fun of it. Thank you again for your input, info and help. Glenn

A little off your question, but you might consider buying one already done. I don't know the bike or if its still available, but there is a Hannigan listed in our classified you might want to check on. If you like it, it would be interesting to look at selling your RSV, buying that one, and riding now. How much difference in out of pocket money would there be?
