rstd handlebar reposition

i have a question. Can i reposition my stock handlebar on my 05 rstd so the will be higher and farther? I know in clymer they said to align the punch mark but if i put it not in line will it work? did someone already did it? thanks a lot

Yes it will work. Just don't get it so low it hits the tank.

I ve done the job this morning and god the style is way better and the riding position too... Took about half a hour to do

Often wanted to do this myself. On slow speed U turns my current handlebar adjustment causes the bar to hit my knee unless I point my knee out first.

Raising the bars is the first thing I did to my RSTD the first week after I bought it new 5 years ago. I'm 6'6" and the stock position didn't work on slow speed turns. Kept hitting my knee.
