Hey if you have a buddy in law enforcement the bulbs out of the stobe lights in a police car are much brighter. Check the light bars that have been damaged or are old, see if you can get the bulbs. I used them they really make a big difference in turn lights. You also can order them from souther police supply, Galls and also check with Fire and Rescue they use the same light bars just different covers.

If I can remember right they are the 1157 replacement. Which my 99 RSV had but my 06 RSV doesn't. I don't know when they changed the bulbs but their is a difference in the nipple placement on the newer bulbs. But, I'll check with the guys that work on our cars and see if they have a newer light bar that might have bulbs that will fit the newer RSV's. Then I'll find where they get the replacement bulbs and part #'s.

A 1257 bulb is 5 watts brighter then the 1157 and is a direct replacement if that's what your talking about. I have them in my 07. If you replace your clear lenses with RED (rear) and want to use a clear bulb instead of the orange bulb that comes with the newer VR's then all you have to do is file one of the tits off an 1157 or 1257 bulb and it will work.

I cannot find a 1257 bulb on the interent.

do you have a URL?

Sorry the number is 2057 and it's for the running/brake light not the turn signals.

Ok I got the bulbs today they don't replace the 1157, but 1156 they have one connection on the bottom. The bulb replacement number is HAL795XVERT. Be careful with them, if you touch the bulb part the oils from your skin will burn them out. These are for turn lights only will not work for two purpose lights. I'm going to try something I brought a set home, they said to file down one post and put it in it will work. They are longer than a standard 1156 but worked on my 99, so I'll have to give it a try on the 06 and let you know.

PS if you like the look of clear covers they aren't for you. You will have to get the old amber covers.

Haven't done it yet ,but Google "States Visited Map" and you'll come up with a bunch of different ones. Try this one

Just select the states you've been to , "save as".xxx and post in your signature or user ID.

Good luck

There Halogen bulbs, and yes they will burn a hole in the glass if you touch them with your fingers. If you do touch them just clean them off with some windex. I did a search and could not find that part number online. They should be bright.

I worked with these all the time for the fire department. They are usually marked as a 795V or 795H. It depends on the mounting direction. The interior filament is oriented to the installation. These bulbs pull 35-50 watts each. Watch putting them behind plastic lenses! You can order them from most of the mail order lightbar places such as Gall's Inc. They are bright! But, I would not put them into anthing that has a steady burn behind a plastic lens not made for them.

Sure they will get hot if you put in a full time burn that's why turn lights is the only way to use them. I used them on my 99 for a long time no problems even tried to swap out when I traded up, but that nipple issue came up.

I hope I can get these to work in the 06 and I'll try them for a few months and see what happens and let you guys know.

I'm also working on a tall light exchange that a friend and I are working up that will hopefully light up that tail, brake light. If it works! I'll keep posted.

Try this link, Scott. Sorry, but I forgot about this thread! I guess we can't use that bulb on a 1st gen, ours are 1157s.

............. the 1157 has 32 cp on the high side and 3 cp on the low side. It draws 2.1 amps and .59 amps respectively. For a great improvement over this stock version, try a 2357. It has 40 cp on the high side and 3 cp on the low side. The 2357 draws only 2.2 amps on the high side. The 2357 is a great replacement for the stock 1157.......... much brighter on the high side for either turn signals or brake light.

To replace the rear 1156 bulbs with brighter ones, try the 3497 bulbs. They have 45 cp where the 1156 are 32 cp. The glass is a different shape (smaller in diameter). According to GE they are both 27 watt and pull 2.10 amp. The Wal-Mart in my area carries these bulbs and they are used in several foreign cars.

Is there a chart that lists the stock light bulb NUMBERS for the 2nd Gen RSV???

The owners manual is no help to me....

Now thats weird...I just looked in the service manual on CD, and on pages 8-4 and 8-5, it just shows pictures of the bulbs...no numbers at all....

Well, the headlight is an H4, the brake/tail is an 1157, and the turn signal bulbs appear to be some orphan bulb that Yamaha got from a back room supplier at a distressed Korean military salvage dealer.

They use an unusual offset arrangement on the bayonet pins. Like these guys have said, just buy an 1156 and file off a pin.
