Are Bridgestone OEM tires ? ('07 RSV)

I bought my '07 this past April and it has Bridgestone tires. The dealer couldn't tell me if those came with it originally or the previous owner had replaced the original ones. I bought the bike with 2500 miles. The tires look in great condition and are not worn out. I can't seem to find the date on the sidewall. Both tires are Bridgestones.

Bridgestone or Brickstones as many here call them, are a tire that comes on the RSV from the factory. In my opinion they suck! the Dunlop 404's were the other tires that came on the RSV from the factory, they aren't much better.

 

Many of us have used different tires when it comes to the RSV, Avon Venoms, Dunlop E3's, Michelin Commanders. If your going to chenge them out those would be the ones I would look at. You'll be amazed at how the handling characteristics c hange with a set of good tires.

Probably stock tires. They come with either Dunlop or Bridgestone. Most people here HATE the Bridgestone and the the fronts seem to cup very easily and make a lot of howling noises in the curves.

So far I have no issues with them. They handle very well. I had no problems going from Tampa to Montreal (1775 miles). Will be going back soon but may add more highway miles (1800 ?).

Be extra careful if you get into wet weather. If those tires are from '07, they may have hardened up quite a bit depending on where and how the bike was stored. That could seriously reduce traction in the dry and even more in the wet. You usually can't tell until you try an emergency maneuver and suddenly find yourself sliding along the ground. Traction can break very, very quickly compared to newer tires and can easily catch you off guard. Don't mean to scare you but it's good to know just in case.

Mine came new with Dunlops, still workin on em. Back seems to be wearing faster than the front

Don't expect to get much over about 9000 miles on that " rear " Bridgestone.

 

Plan on that for replcement time.

There are as many opinions on tires as there are tire brands. Do your research and pick what works for you.

 

Now in answer to your question. Yes Bridgestone Exedra tires were original equipment as were Dunlap 404s. I have used both on my bike. Both were ok with tire life over 10k miles. As the Exedras wore beyond 50% tire noise increased especially when cornering.

 

I am now using the newer Exedra Max tires with the multi rubber compound. I have been happy with them.

I had gotten, 9K on the rear, But 18K on the front. I found they handled better in the rain, then most. the front tire was loud, but i got over it. I have bridgestones on this new bike as well. I love them:twing:

My 08 RSTD had Bridgestones on it when new. I got about 8,500 on the rear and 12,000 on the front. I have Avons on it now and like them better.

Your tires are six years old. When I bought my 06 last year I put venoms on. The difference in handling was hard to believe. For a few hundred dollars you are buying peace of mind. My opinion.

I bought a used Stratoliner a few years ago. A few weeks later, took it to the mountains.

Could hardly steer the beast in slow corners. Cut my trip short, thought I forgot how to ride.

The PO has apparently put some used Brimstones on it to make the sale. They were crap!

 

Put some Avon Cobras on it and tried it again. Greased Lightning. Left my friends in the dust.

 

My SantaFe came with Brimstones. No traction. Front wheels slip when wet. Almost scared to pull into traffic if wet.

Got 28k cage miles. I will not wait till the tread is down.

 

Yep, OEM tires, that's about the only way to get people to buy them. IMHO

No they do not. I know you think they are fine, but once you ride that bike with any decent set of tires, you will realize just how bad those stock Brickstones really are. Trust me, they do NOT handle well at all!

Saw this thread about tires and the Brickstone. Yes, it is true that most forum members here that ride the Venture dislike the performance of the brick. Fwiw, I've always used the brick on my bike and got 15k on the rear on each. My bike is on its 3rd set of bricks. So far so good.

 

Whatever tire you end up next, ride safe.
