Now what the frig is going on. I just posted a fork brace reminder in the 1stGen forum. Then I clicked on the 'new posts' to browse the mail. Ok, the post doesn't pop up. So I figure I had a brain fart and didn't hit the post button. So I go ahead and conjer up another post, and make sure I post it. Go to 'new posts', and again no post. So then I go to the forum, and there they both are. So I think Oh Well I'll just delete one of the posts. So I hit edit, and it won't let me delete my own post.... Have I been blackballed or something??? Let me know when this all gets straightened out.. Now I really wish the good ol' days were back....

Your own post wouldn't show up. You post it and then it opens and shows your post so it is already marked as read. Therefore, it would not show up under "new posts".

Hey Boo. I wouldn't steal the boss's thread or anything. Just wanted to say Hi. I hadn't noticed you on here for a while.... Maybe I was taking a nap......:whistling:

The wife and I have been traveling quite a lot this year (dodging the creditors don't you know).

I check the site pretty regularly but don't post to much anymore.

Thanks for asking,

BOO

PS: Don I still don't like it.:thumbdown::stirthepot::rasberry:

I have always been a believer of don't fix what's not broke. When can we go back to the old way?

I always select new posts and then mark all read.... so I haven't noticed a difference since the first OMG.

A forum for people with old bikes, and new bikes that still have carbs and cassette decks.

I wonder what the result will be!

That's not a good thing. Never had that happen before.... In the past I'd post and it would show up in the forum. Then if I hit New Posts it would appear at close to the top of the search. I understand that if I had opened it it wouldn't appear, but I'm not opening it. Anyway I'll vote to go back to the old way just in case my poll vote doesn't make it.... :)

Ok time for me to chime in. I've got broad shoulders and can take it, so I pm'd Don about an issue I was having with tapatalk as when at work or anywhere I didn't have access to a computer if I opened it and had to close it for whatever reason all threads would be marked read, even if I logged out. Or if I forgot to log off and got on the computer later everything would be marked read to that point even if it was the next day. So I ask what could it be as other forums I use with tapatalk didn't do that, so he told me he had tried this once before and most didn't like it but he would try it again. I like it this was but if the majority doesn't then I have no problem going back the other way, it certainly isn't just me who loves this place and I'm sorry if this has caused some grief. Like I said I have no problems either way, I'd rather see the majority happy. So everyone vote how you feel and no hard felling, I promise.

OK folks...not many voted in the poll but it is obvious that most of you prefer the old way. I have changed it back. It may require that you mark some things read that you have already read. Not sure but it should get back to normal after a couple of visits.

Hail to GOD. :bighug:

Point of clarification:

For those who don't know, in some organizations admins are known as GOD, an acronym for Gatherer Of Data.

Maybe a RECENT POSTS (last 7 days)

and a NEWEST POSTS (last 2 days, or since last logon)

type of menu button would work for most people?

:stickpoke:

I know that I am beating a dead horse, but...

I checked the forum this morning and found about thirty threads that had been updated since my last visit last evening. I DID NOT READ ANY OF THOSE THREADS, however, when I returned to the site 30 minutes later this morning, all but two of those thirty threads had been marked as read. Now I have to wade through ALL the posts since I visited last night to catch up. And because those threads have been marked "read", I can't use the "view first unread" feature, I have to start at the beginning of each thread (or the end of the thread and work backwards) and read down until I find those comments posted since I visited last.

I SERIOUSLY don't get you guys' complaints about the "New Forum Change" other than the fact that it was a CHANGE. ("You can't teach an old dog new tricks" comes to mind.)

How in the heck is this old way better in light of my recent experiences?

LOL....this old way is actually not better but is what most people preferred. The new way was truly better in that it actually saved your "read" status in the database and was a true indication of whether or not you had read something. But......the majority spoke. :)

On a happier note, I do like the new setting on the Manage Attachment setting.

Use to be the whole path for the picture would display, but only see the first 20 or so characters, never could see picture name. Now it is displaying only the picture name, which is helpful.
