farm1810 Posted June 25, 2013 #1 Posted June 25, 2013 I have the Custom Dynamics 100 LED brake / parking light and love it. I am seeking to change the rear turn signals to LED. I have already switched them to the RSTD front light that now gives me parking light and turn signal in the housing. The bulb has 3 anchoring tits spaced equally around the circumference of the base. On the custom dynamics website the have a diagram of a dual purpose bulb with 3, but they are not spaced equally in the drawing. I have found a Yamaha part number for a replacement bulb. Custom dynamics calls this base a BAZ15D-3. Is this the right base? Also, I have red lenses on the back, do I use red LED's?
JerryT Posted June 25, 2013 #2 Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) Think you have a 08 TD so I'm not sure. I would think they would be the same as the RSV. My 09 RSV has two pins on the bulb that are at an angle, not straight across. As to color, I'ld use red, but my lenses are clear. I also changed the main brake lense to clear, just my preference. Personally I would add a run-turn-brake controller. This makes the lights stay on all the time giving you more lights on the back. Also makes lights flash on braking which I also think is good. To me it's just personal preference so no right or wrong answer. Edited June 25, 2013 by JerryT Missed he has red lenses.
MikeWa Posted June 25, 2013 #3 Posted June 25, 2013 If you have red lenses white bulbs are better. Mike
Flyinfool Posted June 25, 2013 #4 Posted June 25, 2013 If you have red lenses white bulbs are better. Mike Sorry, but with LED it is always best to match the bulb color to the lens color. A white bulb puts out all colors of the rainbow and the lens filters out all of the other colors, but the color you want, in this case red, all the rest of that light energy is wasted and will never bee seen by anyone. By matching LED bulb color to lens color, you will get the maximum light output.
