No relation between antenna and input from mp3. Are you using the input in front of the cassette or do you have an mp3 input using the cd connector in the saddlebag?

I am using the connector beside the cassette deck ......

Check your connections inside the fairing. Could also be a connection "short" on the antenna I suppose, but I'd start with the connections in the fairing.

First I would plug it into another source and move the wire around to make sure it's not in the wire, connector or mp3 player.

Step 2 would be the connection inside the fairing, but if you get in there you might as well install a Y cable to it and run the one for your mp3 up a handle bar, will look cleaner. I like putting heat shrink on my connectors once together and tested.

nlikely but does your mp3 player have a FM output, and you are listening with the Radio control pod set to one of the FM inputs? if you have aux selected on the control pod try some other device plugged into the input.

When you are playing and the sound cuts out does the display on the pod go out, I doubt there is any way for the RF input to short out the Dc but stranger things have happened.

can you make the sound cut out by tapping the anteana when everything seems to be working fine?

last I suspect the audio input jack is the culprit either one of the wires going to the jack are poorly soldered or one of the contacts is not making good contact. Do you loose everything or just one channel left or right. if only one channel it would be that contact, if both it would be the common. anything feel loose when yu plug in?

Not sure what type of MP3 player you are using, but if it uses a thumb drive, may be the thumb drive is loose where it plugs in and is loosing connection there which would mean nothing is wrong with your wire harness/ cords going to and from the unit.

Ok, I went back and I noticed that everytime the MP3 cuts the letters RX come on on the radio. When MP3 plays normally I just see AUX on the radio but when it cuts it still says AUX but on the upper right of screen it says RX ! What is RX ? Thanks

That means your CB is getting a transmission and cutting out the music. Either turn the CB off or turn the squelch WAY up. I usually keep mine all the way up on 20 unless leading a group and the tail gunner is WAY back. Then I will turn it down a bit.

Thank you. I will try that.

When I bought the bike, previous owner had the CB antennae on the left side (left flasher side) I switched it, wonder why he did that !

Great. Now about that antenna, many come installed on the wrong side. Some dealers don't seem to know. Now with you sitting on the bike, it SHOULD be on the left side. If you trace the antenna cable from the bottom of the antenna, you will see that it goes directly into the box under the trunk that holds the CB.

Yes it does, thank you !!

The antennae is now positioned like the one in the photo.

Thank you to both of you guys. I recently installed a set if 1.5" risers under handlebars. Possibly happenned before but SINCe I installed risers my radio has become intermittent. For no particular reason it goes quiet and RX appears on screen. Has driven me nuts. Have split fairing looking for loose or pulled wires, It happens randomly, particularly if I am "in town". Not so much if in country.

Freebird has given me the answer and correction.

Turn off CB

Thank you :322:
