SilvrT Posted June 21, 2013 #1 Posted June 21, 2013 When we got home from work today at 5:30PM, the furnace was running! Yes, it's occasionally still cold enough for the furnace to kick in. Today's High was just 14 celcius (that's 57 f). Geeeesh! So that led me to wonder how many folks here are still seeing their furnace or heating system kick in due to cooler temps? Answer the poll and post your location so we can get a reading on who's still suffering in cooler climates and where.

Flyinfool Posted June 21, 2013 #4 Posted June 21, 2013 57F is 3 degrees warmer than I keep the tstat set at. I would have opened the windows to let the heat in. we were in the 40s 3 days ago and will be in the 90s by weekend. My furnace has not run since April.

I have our furnace set to come on when the temp goes below 21 celcius between the hours of 5:15PM and 10PM ... then again between 5:15AM and 6:30AM ... the rest of the time it is set at 18 except on the weekend when it's set for 21 from 5:15AM thru 10PM. Those time slots are for when we are at home. We've had several days in the past month and a bit that the furnace has not run but there have been a few such as today that it kicks in. I guess some folks like cooler temps that I do LOL
SilvrT Posted June 21, 2013 Author #8 Posted June 21, 2013 Middle of winter here and WE got to 14degC! My daughter and her b/f (who's an Aussie from Noosa) are currently on a 2-3 month camping trip in Aus. He just finished the "Iron Man Cairns". Not sure what their route is.
KeithR Posted June 21, 2013 #9 Posted June 21, 2013 I unplugged my pellet stove about a month ago and still have to turn on the electric heat to take the chill out of the air. I've been out for one ride so far this year and that was a short one.....just been too cold. Guess it must be all the ice burgs floating around us cooling things down! Keith
Flyinfool Posted June 21, 2013 #10 Posted June 21, 2013 It's June 20 and my Furnace is Running Catch it, they are expensive........ Next time put a leash on it........
Sailor Posted June 21, 2013 #11 Posted June 21, 2013 It is unusually cold this year. Our automatic furnace starts when SWMBO kicks my butt and tells me to get a fire going.
stroker ace Posted June 21, 2013 #12 Posted June 21, 2013 Heat off in mid April, a/c since sometime in May low 90's for the high today. It's supposed to be upper 80's to low 90's the next 10 days or so. I would take some of that cool weather.
Condor Posted June 21, 2013 #13 Posted June 21, 2013 I see where Calgary is having flooding problems, and we're expecting rain down here in Sacramento on Monday. Mama Nature is sure pissed off lately....

Mama Nature is sure pissed off lately.... Not only Calgary (and surrounding areas such as High River It's crazy this year. Our weather here in the Vancouver area has been up and down but at least we haven't yet had any really bad storms like some years. (note I said "yet").
GeorgeS Posted June 21, 2013 #15 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) An old friend from Minn. called Tue, said, last min. decision to ride to SEA, then Down to SFO, this week. Have not seen him in 30 years, so I decided to ride to Spokan to meet him and provide a " Motorcycle " Escort from Spokan to Seattle. Anyway. I left SEA yesterday morning, was about 52 deg. and light rain. 60 miles east it was pouring, and temp down to about 45 deg. Got to eastern side of the Cascade Range, and the Pouring Rain continued all the way to Spokane. I meet up will Richard, at Exit 247, West of Spokane, we rode back to Seattle in Pouring Rain, and about 50 DEG, temps all the way. ( cell phone works great for setting up meeting points, on the interstate's ) !! I have to say this was the Worst day of Rideing, I have ever experienced !!!! But, it was great to ride with an old friend from grade school days, and a good friend all my life. His older Wing, has about 150 K on it !!! This trip, was Minn. to SFO and back, just cause he wants to ride Across the Golden Gate Bridge !!! Anyway he left here this morning, for the Bridge, I expect tomorrow morning he will be crosssing the bridge !! WX, looks pretty good, up and down the west coast today. Temps here in SEA, have been almost 20 deg. below normal for a week !! Edited June 21, 2013 by GeorgeS
