Peder_y2k Posted June 20, 2013 #1 Posted June 20, 2013 (edited) What's this cover/lid? Associated with gen1 bikes, but I don't know what it's for. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '88VR Edited June 21, 2013 by Peder_y2k
Snaggletooth Posted June 20, 2013 #2 Posted June 20, 2013 Keys on the right top so it must go right side upper dash cover. Not sure if it's MKII but I think so.
Prairiehammer Posted June 21, 2013 #3 Posted June 21, 2013 I believe it is for a 1983 or 1984 Royale prior to factory CB. The "glove box" on upper right of the fairing dash. The CLASS would occupy the lower section of the right fairing compartment. Later the CLASS and CB took up most of the space and there is simply the latched door for checking the coolant overflow tank. Here's a pic of a 1984 Royale with that cover.
bongobobny Posted June 21, 2013 #4 Posted June 21, 2013 Yup! It's MK1 where the CB goes if you have a CB or if you don't have a CB that covers where the controller goes. Bet that's clear as mud... It goes above the CLASS controller.
Big Lou Posted June 22, 2013 #5 Posted June 22, 2013 COULD YOU TELL ME THE INSIDE MEASUREMENTS OF THE GLOVE BOX .. I TOOK MY AIR RIDE AND cb off , so i would like to fill the hole ,, i am a finish carpenter and i have red oak and cedar I could build one out of ,, practically make it look origional if i had an idea of wht it looked like

Will be intrested in what you come up with.

Here is one: http://tinyurl.com/mt6elme And another: http://tinyurl.com/ks464ao Here is one on sale: http://tinyurl.com/lnbpwfy Here is one with multiple views to show what it looks like. Maybe can get enough info from those pics to make one? http://tinyurl.com/mg74zo5 You will probably want the hinged cover that attaches to the glove box, too. Here is one: http://tinyurl.com/muhsscn And here is a package including the glove box and a cover: http://tinyurl.com/k6wzz7r Edited June 22, 2013 by Prairiehammer
Big Lou Posted June 22, 2013 #8 Posted June 22, 2013 that box looks like it only attaches to the top of the fairing ,, wonder why they didnt attach it to bottom or frame for some more stiffening all the side panels in this fairing ???? going riding more later too nice not to get out
Prairiehammer Posted June 22, 2013 #9 Posted June 22, 2013 that box looks like it only attaches to the top of the fairing ,, wonder why they didnt attach it to bottom or frame for some more stiffening all the side panels in this fairing ???? Just take the six screws that hold your plastic panel (that used to contain the CB and CLASS) onto the fairing and replace with the pictured glove box and add the hinged cover. The OEM cover had no more support than this glovebox and it was carrying the weight of the CB and CLASS.
Pegasus1300 Posted June 26, 2013 #10 Posted June 26, 2013 That cover is actually for the standard Ventures and covers up the box where the radio/tape player would go on a Royale on the left side. It attaches to clips in the box and the key is to lock it.I also used it to protect the empty hole when I pulled the radio out.
Big Lou Posted June 29, 2013 #11 Posted June 29, 2013 I started a thread for my box... just to cheap to buy one.. or rather do it myself ,, you choose
