loudad Posted June 20, 2013 #1 Posted June 20, 2013 I have the classic on the bike. Does the rear fairing affect the bikes carbs in anyway since there only a couple inches away from the fiberglass fender.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted June 20, 2013 #2 Posted June 20, 2013 Huh? I like to try to help, and figure out what is being asked exactly, but I'm lost. What do you mean by 'rear fairing'? Are you asking about the intake breathers on the bike's 'lowers'? Or is something else happening?
steamer Posted June 20, 2013 #3 Posted June 20, 2013 I had a voyager kit for awhile. But nothing on it was anywhere near the carbs. Are you talking about the exhaust pipes being close to the fenders?

Bob, I've just put a voyager kit on my '99 RSV and have so far left the mud guard, as they call it, off because it is only about a foot from the stock mufflers. How did you address this? I've seen some turn down mufflers on some member's bikes, but not sure where to get them. I have thought about making circular cut outs in the mud guard and maybe making some funnel shaped metal inserts that would start an inch or so behind the muffler and extend through the mud guard an inch or so.
loudad Posted June 22, 2013 Author #6 Posted June 22, 2013 I am sorry I meant the exhaust pipes are pretty close to the rear fender of the voyager kit. It seems like the bike pops a lot when I leave off the gas.

If its less, then it will probably make the exhaust sound different then without the mud guard. I don't think it will cause more back pressure on the exhaust system, just a different sound.

I didn't have a deluxe model. It didn't have that big mud guard. My exhaust went straight out the back.
spear Posted July 26, 2013 #9 Posted July 26, 2013 My 2004 RSV is fitted with the Voyager. (See avatar.) Bike has stock pipes - no problems at all.

The AIS system can cause problems like this as well as unbalanced carbs (need syncing) or exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks, etc. Check in the Second Generation Tech talk and the Second Generation Read Only tech sections of the forum for additional information...
