kantornado Posted June 18, 2013 #1 Posted June 18, 2013 1st things 1st I was not prepared 4 how many 2 inch tach's were under $50. Most are between 10 and 25 $. 2nd with so many choices between electronic/mechanical/digital/L.E.D. what is best and is the more wires it has better 1 has 7 wires out the back to several locations or do we (K.I.S.S) (keep-it-simple-stupid) with 1 wire to the spark plug?? 3rd Color choices on the face with so many 2 choose from it's real hard to figure out because of sun light and mounting location. There's blue, red, yellow, white with color graduations to the red line, black face with color spectrum's off the charts (very pretty but practical??) Then just numbers and red line is another color of light depending on choice of digital read out and face color. 4th I am mounting it next to the cruise switch under where cassette door used to be. 5th Why does everyone seem to buy Barons or H-D ones with all these choices. Is it mounting options?? I'm not a tach guy never mounted one in a vehical. Just used them for work.Thank you in advance..............Ron

The RSV are wasted spark systems. The Autometer Pro-Cycle tach I put on the '99 had 4 dip switches and would handle 1 or 2 or half pulse signal.
Bubber Posted June 19, 2013 #3 Posted June 19, 2013 Like me a lot of people buy HD compatible tach and they install just fine. 2 wires!
kantornado Posted June 19, 2013 Author #4 Posted June 19, 2013 Thank you CONDOR and BUBBER I will check on wasted spark ignition. I did not know this about the RSMV. There are allot of tach's out there that are 4-6-8 cylinder rated & are for motorcycles. I just need to find out about this wasted spark thing. So its off to research............Ron

Some tachs need to be set to two cycle to account for the extra spark. Mike
