CaptainJoe Posted June 18, 2013 #1 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) Rt. 60 E. from Charleston. *** sites *** small waterfall & wooden tresel bridge Hawks Nest S.P. - lodging, tram, air boat rides Harley Davidson shop Rt. 19 S. to New River George Bridge Visitors center. *** sites *** Check out visitors center, very interesting on how this bridge was built. (Used to be the worlds largest arched bridge.) Leaving Visitors center parking lot, make a right (away from Rt. 19) , go 1/4 mile R. at end of road (Keep to outside of this turn as it is very sharp and has a abrupt drop on inside of turn) . Continue thru a series of cutbacks(keep to outside of turns) when given choice make a (left - down hill route) Cross over RR tracks and small bridge *** sites *** Various pull offs on way down to New river. 1st parking lot - excellent pics of bridge and river(white water rafters) 2nd parking lot - bathrooms, excellent pics of river drop off of 10"? (caution- when turning into 2nd Parking lot you will cross over a wooden bridge. Pick a path and stay on it. Do not try to get on runners if your in the center as they are 2" high and you will lay the bike down) as one of my friends found out this past Saturday... Continuing on, you'll go about 1/4 mile and make a 180 deg. cut back to he left, that is relatively level followed up by a 180 deg. cutback to the right. (Keep to outside of this turn as it is very sharp and has a abrupt Climb on inside of turn) . *** sites *** Campground This road will take you to rt 19 on south side of the New River George Bridge. CaptainJoe Posted June 18, 2013 Author #4 Posted June 18, 2013 Sorry folks but we didn't have a camera along.. This is an excellent ride any time of year, but is at it's best after the leaves have fallen in the fall.

I like it in the Spring when it first greens up the sun is shining and "Brown sugar" is hunting....
Skid Posted June 18, 2013 #6 Posted June 18, 2013 Definitely some of the WV finest roads. Been there many times and around the area.
Yammer Dan Posted June 18, 2013 #7 Posted June 18, 2013 Definitely some of the WV finest roads. Been there many times and around the area. Yeah it ain't like we got to hunt for good riding roads. Just follow the front wheel.... Or the 2nd Gen in front of you....
Yammer Dan Posted June 18, 2013 #8 Posted June 18, 2013 Just in case you are wondering.... You put the 2nd Gens if front cause you know they can't get away and if you put them in back they keep getting lost...:rotfl:
etcswjoe Posted June 18, 2013 #9 Posted June 18, 2013 I like to ride up that way when the leaves are falling just have to watch out for pine cones they hurt.
Yammer Dan Posted June 18, 2013 #10 Posted June 18, 2013 Some of those Squirrels get pretty good at throwing those things.....
