saddlebum Posted June 17, 2013 #1 Posted June 17, 2013 This was taken from the GTA motorcycle forum from southern Ontario. Disclaimer, i dont work for these guys. Just stop by canadian tire today at warden and eglinton, they had a booth that was giving out free stain remover pens, but there was a catch that you had to stand there and listen to a salesman's pitch about a different product. I thought whateve's i got my free ****. Turns out it was a product featured on dragons den called power pod 360 jr. (http://powerpod360.com/?page_id=20) that turns hollowed objects into a speaker. The bigger the object the more sound is product. For me i thought the sound quality was pretty damn good. Anyway i thought to myself i dont have a use for it and continued my shopping. Then it hit me... my helmet! Having taken a car there, i grab a helmet on the shelf, and hurried over there to test it out, and it works like a charm! Sounds way better then my ear phones. Ive gone through 3 sets of ear phones last season just from wear and tear (these ear phones get tugged on a lil and they seem to stop working), and ive used ear buds from cheap 10$ ones to 30$ pairs and found that they either get loose inside your helmet or hurt your ear like crazy. I know some of you guys have custom ear phones made but i dont have cash for that. There was one draw back that kinda turned me off which is that it runs on 2xAAA batteries, the sales guy said it runs for 50 hours roughly because it uses such low energy. I can live with that if it means no more cramming those ear buds in. Anyways they got them for half price, normal is 50$ and today i got it for 25$. I have not ridden with it yet. But i have stuck it on my helmet, it stays on pretty good but i dont trust it to hold for highways, i might tape it on for security during long rides. Anyways, give it a try, bring in ur helmets and give it a try to see the sound quality for yourself. The bass is really nice!
etcswjoe Posted June 17, 2013 #2 Posted June 17, 2013 Someone had one of these at MD used their trailer lid as a speaker.
WCody Posted June 17, 2013 #3 Posted June 17, 2013 The problem with this is that there is more than one reason to use the Custom Earplugs than just to hear music. The first, more important reason is to protect yourself from permanent hearing loss from the wind noise one experiences while riding. It has been proven that permanent hearing loss can result if you do not wear earplugs of some kind. But, I suppose that one could still use earplugs AND use this device. I still prefer my Custom Challenger C Earplugs from the EarPlug Company. This was taken from the GTA motorcycle forum from southern Ontario.
dacheedah Posted June 17, 2013 #4 Posted June 17, 2013 Someone had one of these at MD used their trailer lid as a speaker. Guilty, it was me. Wife bought 2 at a boat show for $20.00. Works ok for sound but u loose left and right channel seperation.
stickhandle2 Posted June 17, 2013 #5 Posted June 17, 2013 I have one of those and yes I bought mine at Canadian Tire. I use it in the back yard with a plastic dish sink. Also have used while working on the bikes, saddlebags make great speakers. I dont have an ipod or iphone, but my mp3 works pretty good. It is great for sitting in the backyard while you watch the smoker cook your dinner for 3 or more hours and you dont want to bother the neighbours with your tunes. Even better if there is someone to come out and refill your glass when it gets empty, because you just can't miss that one song on that is playing on the washtub. Mike.
