My 88 turns right around 4100 at 65 mph in 5th.

Assuming that you were going at a common interstate speed limit of 65. Most trucks do real close to the speed limit.

Then to go from 4100 to 6500 rpm is an increase of, 6500 ÷ 4100 = 1.58537, so 65 MPH X 1.58537 = 103.05 mph.

Or as Yammer Dan would say, "Time to start thinking about shifting out of 3rd" :stickpoke: :whistling:

Here is a calculator specifically for motorcycles.

http://woodsware.aciwebs.com/gears/

If you were running the stock tire (140/80-16): 6500 rpm in fifth gear equals 116.2 mph.

If you were running a 150/80-16 tire: 6500 rpm in fifth gear equals 119.1 mph.

If you were running a 150/90-16 tire: 6500 rpm in fifth gear equals 124.7 mph.

In the OP you said 150/90-16. In a subsequent post you said 150/80-16.:confused24:

In any case, the tire diameter is less when the weight of the bike and rider is applied, thus my earlier comment about "loaded" tire diameter. However, unbelted bias ply tires do grow at high speed, so maybe the tire diameter is effectively the same as a static unloaded tire.

In 5th, 119.2 mph, assuming tire full diameter.

Excel spread sheet attached set to your parameters.
