GAWildKat Posted June 14, 2013 #1 Posted June 14, 2013 .....Has a carbtune and colortune and can give us a hand with Mike's new 1st gen? If you live outside GA and wanna stop by I'll feed and house you too! Right now I can't travel with doc visits looming and Mike needs someone who has the time and ability to help him diagnose some problems with the bike. I'd appreciate the assistance, it would be a huge help with prepping for Vogel this year.
etcswjoe Posted June 14, 2013 #2 Posted June 14, 2013 We are going to Warner Robbins sometime in July. If you have not found someone by then I can do the carbtune. Been thinking about getting a color tune also.
pmelah Posted June 14, 2013 #3 Posted June 14, 2013 if i had a carb tune and color tune i would come up and do it but i dont have one and need to get both so i can do mine
Barrycuda Posted June 14, 2013 #4 Posted June 14, 2013 Can someone inform me on what's a color tune?? And how often should this be performed and why?
pmelah Posted June 14, 2013 #5 Posted June 14, 2013 color tune lets you see what kind of flame you have in the cylinder you pull the plugs put this in place then put plugs back in it help to fine tune your fuel air mixture to timing if you have an orange flame you can adjust until you get a nice blue flame that will help the efficiency of the motor fuel burn and should be done when syncing the carbs i hope i explained this right i have the concept down but hard for me to explain its also hard to do on the 1st and 2nd gens without a mirror and some sort of adapter as there is not much room for this to be done
djh3 Posted June 15, 2013 #7 Posted June 15, 2013 Barry you probably aint got enough miles on it to worry about. LOL
bongobobny Posted June 15, 2013 #8 Posted June 15, 2013 Yup, it's to balance/adjust your air/fuel mixture! The other way to do it is with a CO sniffer and monitor each cylinder at the exhaust for the perfect CO value. I forgot what that value is but it's either .5 or 2 or something like that. Doing a carb sync does not set the fuel mixture needle valves...
Big Lou Posted June 16, 2013 #9 Posted June 16, 2013 Where do you get one these color tune doo dads !!!! i can do the synch now i may be able to come that far ,got to see if its feasible for me HOW FAR IS WARNER ROBBINS FROM ALEXANDER CITY AL. LET ME LOOK WHAT OTHER PROBLEMS??????
Yammer Dan Posted June 17, 2013 #10 Posted June 17, 2013 Gunnison Color Tune I think. But I don't want the simple kit. I lost mine at the last Skid-In. Getting ready to replace it.
