Sailor Posted June 14, 2013 #28 Posted June 14, 2013 When I was looking for a bike I went to the bike show in Abbotsford and sat on all the bikes. When I saw the 02 Midnight Venture I said "That's my bike" then I sat on it and knew I was right.

I have had this bad hankering to build a custom bagger. 26" front tire, a little more rake on the forks, stretched rear fender and bags. Thinking the Kawasaki Vaquero would be a sweet ride to do. Lack of funds tho !!

Although I do like this Vic ... works for me much better than anything I've had so far. Maybe I should expand my horizons and look at the sport touring market but I like the cruiser/bagger/V-twin look.

JohnT Posted June 14, 2013 #32 Posted June 14, 2013 Can't afford a new bike, and probably never will. (unless daughter can start paying astronomical student loan) But if I could Yamaha wouldn't have to do a lot to get me on one. A "today" stereo, THE V-MAX ENGINE, lots of HID lighting, maybe ABS (but not a deal breaker) Until things change at Yamaha (and in my life), I guess I will just keeping messing with my antique 1st Gen. Just got me spin on filter adapter so it's oil change time. Or hope for a cool deal on a Vaquero. A really mad soon to be ex wife perhaps? With the bike in her name and video of hubbies indiscretion.

Mind you, I did fall down the ladder for a while but I'm on top of the roof now.
ediddy Posted June 14, 2013 #36 Posted June 14, 2013 I won't believe there won't be a 2014 Venture until Septmeber when they announce the new bikes. There have been people on here post in the past that they talked to yamaha USA and were told there was going to be a new improved venture and everyone was going to really be surprised with the new venture. What happened, nothing. There was one post on here a few years ago from someone that worked for a company that did business with yamaha usa so they knew some of the higher ups with yamaha and the higher ups said the venture was going to be discontinued the next year but then the next year it was going to be re introduced. Never happened. There have been dealers that have said there was or wasn't going to be a new venture. You can't believe anything until yamaha announces whether or not there will be a venture.
MikeWa Posted June 14, 2013 Author #37 Posted June 14, 2013 Go here http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/682/home.aspx Click on products. Then select a product other than Venture. It comes up 2014 model. Select Venture. It comes up 2013 model. Then go to contact Star. Call the phone number and ask about the Venture. Or go here and see the 2014 lineup. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modeloverview/ls/2014/model_overview.aspx I sent Yamaha / Star a letter to let them know how disappointed I am about discontinuing the Venture and how much I have enjoyed owning one. If Yamaha has future plans for the Venture they are keeping it to themselves. Mike
djh3 Posted June 14, 2013 #38 Posted June 14, 2013 rick, sorry if offended ya. I'm just pokin fun period. As much as we look at bikes and think "I like this one because its different" or "this style is better" etc. Whe you look at them we are sort of force feed what we can have. I like the Looks of the Vic Cross Roads I posted. but its sort of funny how much it looks like the HD Road king deluxe or whatever they call it. I think the RSV "flows" beter as far as looks go because the bags are rounded same fot teh Voyager VS the HD shoe box bags. Whatever reason I like the looks of the Vaquero better than the Voyager even though its the same bike. Maybe its the blacked out theme thing. But man it felt heavier than tan the Venture and maybe a bit wider or something. Its all good man just get out and RIDE.

jfoster Posted June 15, 2013 #40 Posted June 15, 2013 Can't believe no one likes the strat deluxe with its 4.5 gallon fuel tank and no cruise control!
Yammer Dan Posted June 16, 2013 #41 Posted June 16, 2013 I just want my Honda 50 back and start all over again!! Hell I thought it was a Motorcycle!!
Mike G in SC Posted June 16, 2013 #42 Posted June 16, 2013 Fortunately, Yamaha makes high mileage, dependable bikes. Riding two Royals, I figure I will get several more years out both. particularly my '09 RSV. And, when that shows it's age, might pick up a used 2013. If Yamaha comes around by time I am looking, good. If they don't, I will simply buy the best "Touring Bike" out. Mike G.

Sure am glad my 09 dont look anything like this. http://cdn.polarisindustries.com/polaris/vic/2013/images/model-photos/thumbs_small/15th_crs_cty_tour_p6.jpg The bags and farings flow with the angles of the fender and tank. Not like big shoe boxs plunked on the side. Oh well to each his own. Just ride. I looked but just couldn't leap, those big ugly jugs and that wart on the back called a touring box was too much for me. Went with better resale on the RoadGlide Ultra.

pmelah Posted June 17, 2013 #45 Posted June 17, 2013 have to send all 1st and 2nd gen cassette decks so they can have a variety for the 3rd gen :rotf:

As for the "better" resale value of the RG ... hahahahahaha OMFG I just fell off my chair laffin. You take a stock RG vs a stock CCT today and wait 5 years... 5 will get ya 10 the CCT will hold it's value far better because in 5 years the RG will have 1/2 the miles and a history of major repairs. Now who wants a bike like that? Not to mention, the market will be flooded with used RG's coz they'll have been traded in for Vics.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted June 17, 2013 #50 Posted June 17, 2013 WildBill1 said: Went with better resale on the RoadGlide Ultra. You cant ride 'resale value'...and dont kid yourself, the resale value on a used Harley PLUMMETS after the bike has about 20,000 miles. I've owned three. 20,000 miles (ONE front tire change) on the average HD is about 3-4 years...give or take, and ask a dealer what he will give you in trade on a 4 year old ElectraGlide, RoadGlide, or other BigTwin. It will make you laugh...or cry, depending on your particular needs and wants.
