IronMike Posted May 13, 2014 #51 Posted May 13, 2014 You already know how I feel Yea, instead of a wind vent it could be a bug vent. I'm with you on that. I can understand the tinted ones scratching more just because the way tint is added. So I guess I will go Naked, no vent no tint. Hardly ever what I want is cheaper, here is a new one on me. I live close to the place, I am wondering if they will let me pick it up direct. Only dealer close is an HD shop I don't go in those places they all make offers on my bike and get into my riding time.

I do have the TINT and no scratches yet :-).. However it is much darker then the Clearview. so keep that in mind. so far mine is scratch free and I am loving it. the cleaning is so much better when only using Windex now. I also am trying out the F4 Cleaning product and it restores the RainX feature that the windshield has. Good luck on what you decide. If you can go to F4 I would look at both to see if the TINT will be OK for you. Jeff
Cougar Posted May 13, 2014 #53 Posted May 13, 2014 And STILL #waiting on tinted version. I suppose. NO! Whooo they have Tint AND vent! https://www.f4customs.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=87 Now, do I want tinted? Do I want a Vent? Press input button below looking for input. Well Well Well-- LOOKY there, that is my Tinted Shield on there site now cool !
uncledj Posted May 13, 2014 #54 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) Just ordered a clear 17 1/2 " for my 06 Black Cherry. Went back to the site to order a bottle of cleaner, and shipping for the $10 bottle of cleaner came up at $27....lol... With tax, total order cost of $39. I sent 'em an e-mail. I figure it must be a glitch of some sort. I'd like to get some mfr. recommended cleaner, but that shipping cost is a bit nuts. Can't wait for the new F4. Wow, that was a quick response. Within an hour of sending them an e-mail, I got this response : Yes this is in our system and we are working on it. There will be one included with your order at no charge. Don Frank Great customer service. Thanks Don Edited May 13, 2014 by uncledj Wanted to update situation
Mikealiasmike Posted May 13, 2014 #55 Posted May 13, 2014 What about RSTD'S? We'd sure like to buy an upgrade to these sails Yamaha calls windshields
kbran Posted May 13, 2014 #56 Posted May 13, 2014 I got a 14 1/2" clear, no vent a few weeks ago and loving it so far. Didn't know about the cleaner and I'm not paying that kind of shipping either.
baylensman Posted May 13, 2014 #57 Posted May 13, 2014 Yes the windshield acts as claimed in low to medium rain. It beads up and blow off at slow at 35mph
Cougar Posted May 13, 2014 #58 Posted May 13, 2014 Use alcohol to rejuvenate the rain x effect, then windex for cleaning ,and you will be fine
IronMike Posted May 14, 2014 #60 Posted May 14, 2014 I went for a ride today and stopped at Shadetree power sports. Guy I know works there. He had some new stuff in and a helmet faceshield in scratchy condition. He started to work on in while we were bsing. Wha LA! The stuff he was using did a remarkable job!!!! It was called NOVUS. Anyhow it was so impressive I bought some. Like $12 for step 1&2. I put it on right in the parking lot. Amazing stuff! Says it prevents fog and repels a rain. I'll vouch for that it was a downpour going home. I spent the next two hours doing all my plastic stuff. For now I am going to wait on a new screen mines back to like new.
uncledj Posted May 28, 2014 #61 Posted May 28, 2014 Got my windshield, haven't installed it yet. Are there any tricks to the install? Anyhoo, I got a call from Don who wanted to make sure that I received it, and told me that since it was shipped from the factory he'd ship out a bottle of cleaner separately, at no charge. What great customer service. So, I gotta take a day and install the windshield, the Rivco center stand that I also recently received, and the ignition switch bypass. I'll see if I can get the underside of the passenger footrests polished while I'm at it, and I should be good to go. Any input on how to do the windshield install would be appreciated. Thanks.
baylensman Posted May 29, 2014 #62 Posted May 29, 2014 the only "TRICK" is when removing the lower windshield chrome trim from the fairing, "Upwards" means at a slight angle parallel to the windshield not "straight" up. I like having a magnetic bowl close by to catch all the hardware. An extra set of hand for the first bolt going in and the last bolt coming out is also nice. Don't tighten the 6 bolts holding the shield in till all of them are started.
Carbon_One Posted May 29, 2014 #63 Posted May 29, 2014 And DO NOT use any Loctite on any of those screws on the fairing. Larry
Cougar Posted May 29, 2014 #64 Posted May 29, 2014 not sure if they have fixed the two end hole locations yet. you might have to dermal the two end bolt holes for the shield to fit, it is not much if you have to do it. enjoy.
