Wizard765 Posted June 6, 2013 #1 Posted June 6, 2013 If they can make a pocket size LED flashlight this good we should be able to get a really good reasonably priced LED headlight at some point or hwy lights that actually light up the road.. http://www.supertorch.eu/en/
Prairiehammer Posted June 6, 2013 #2 Posted June 6, 2013 I actually considered mounting a high quality LED flashlight or two like that onto the bike and running it off twelve volts with a knock down transformer.
Peder_y2k Posted June 6, 2013 #3 Posted June 6, 2013 I've got a couple similar flashlights (under $14), and bring one in my bike for use as a substitute headlight just in case. Good for about 2 hours before 4000mah battery needs replacing / recharging. I notice the ad does not include lumen rating. My f-lights are 1000 and 1200 lumens. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA '83,88
Mike G in SC Posted June 6, 2013 #4 Posted June 6, 2013 Interesting. But,,, look on Amazon and other websites for MUCH better pricing on what looks like same light. http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=heider+super+torch&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=31772404779&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1701863406244531331&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_9673e2oy0j_e More like $5 -$12 for some pretty bright stuff instead of $50. I paid $40 for a Klutch at Northern Tool. These appear to have more lumens for much cheaper. But you will probably want to get a rechargeable battery.
Flyinfool Posted June 7, 2013 #5 Posted June 7, 2013 Watch close, some of the high power flash lights require a special battery. The special battery and charger are all separate parts. The technology is real close, there are some advertizing LED headlights and driving lights. I dont know if the have the beam patterns correct yet. I have not seen LED driving or head lights that are DOT.
Jayceesfolly Posted June 7, 2013 #6 Posted June 7, 2013 Jeff & Wayne: I have the Dually spot driving lights on my bike and they make the Ultrastar headlight look like a candle. Well worth the money. http://www.ebay.com/itm/400289812243?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649&autorefresh=true Jim
csdexter Posted June 7, 2013 #7 Posted June 7, 2013 Flyinfool, both Trucklite and JW Speaker make LED headlights that have DOT and ECE certifications. Expensive as hell (about $300) though. The Kuryakin Phase 7 (or what it's called) is the Trucklite and the one on Harleys is the JW Speaker one. Also, for some ridiculously powerful flashlights, see here: http://elektrolumens.com . I have the FireSword and I'm very happy with it (think of a Maglite on steroids).
