Huggy Posted June 5, 2013 #1 Posted June 5, 2013 I got the SCI Replacement Diaphragms and I am at a total loss on how to replace my old diaphragms. Can anyone give a step by step procedure on how to install the SCI diaphragms. Thanks.
Snaggletooth Posted June 5, 2013 #2 Posted June 5, 2013 This is a good start. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19271 A lil silicone spray and well trimmed thumb nails got me throuh it with np problems.
dacheedah Posted June 5, 2013 #3 Posted June 5, 2013 skydoc should make a how to video on that, I have seen him in action and Earl makes it look easy. . .
KIC Posted June 5, 2013 #4 Posted June 5, 2013 I used the silcone spray and a credit card to easily slide the diaphragms down. Make sure the hole in the slide is in the correct position and the diaphragm has the little "knob" in the correct position. I also practiced on my old one first to get he feel. Just took them off and put them on until I was comfortable doing it.
Huggy Posted June 5, 2013 Author #5 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) This is a good start. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19271 A lil silicone spray and well trimmed thumb nails got me throuh it with np problems. Thanks for the link. I did a search and I didn't see this one. I didn't get any new plastic rings with my diaphragms. This this is the SCI installation from their web site. It won't work with my new SCI Diaphragms. I have emailed them. Edited June 5, 2013 by Huggy
Snaggletooth Posted June 5, 2013 #6 Posted June 5, 2013 That info is not correct for what you want to do. No need to remove the rings and you really don't need to, or want to.
Marcarl Posted June 5, 2013 #7 Posted June 5, 2013 And be very careful if you put that slide in a vise,,, it'll cost a lot more money if you crack it. I would just keep it in my hand, and as said, use a credit card and WD40 or deep creep. Also, watch out you don't put them in backwards. And oh, you need patience, but it works.
ActionJax Posted June 5, 2013 #8 Posted June 5, 2013 Marcarl is correct. All I did was follow his instructions. Didn't cut anything, didn't glue anything. Just used my hands and a simple "plastic" credit card. I really didn't need to take the top "White" clip off at all. Just pulled the old rubber out and "gently" pushed the new under the "lip" of the ring. Went together very easily. I'd say that I took everything apart and put it all back together in less than an hour. And it worked perfectly. OH and BTW, do yourself a favor and get the hex replacement screws that Skydoc sells. They will save you so much headache putting it all back together. Those screws are PERFECT and make it look cool too!
Huggy Posted June 6, 2013 Author #9 Posted June 6, 2013 OK I got guys. I'll be careful, no vice for sure and make sure I get things all lined up. I was quite confused as it was done one way on this forum and totally different if you fallowed SCI's diagrams. Confused the H*LL out of me. Rest of my carb gaskets are at the post office so now I can get to work on the carbs!
