KIC Posted June 3, 2013 #3 Posted June 3, 2013 Lou, I have an 87 that I tried to get running right. Started hard, ran like crap until warmed up, then ran like crap. Tried everything..then finally tore the carbs apart.. here is the link to that thread. There are some additional diaphragms on the side of the carbs.. Mine are shot. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=76730 Hope that isn't your problem. Bill
Big Lou Posted June 4, 2013 Author #4 Posted June 4, 2013 so i went to store today and got stuff to make the synch, tool,, figure ill hang in the rafters when i am done if it is carb diaphrams , even though it was doing good when i tore it down ,,i am going to just going to have to fix it wonder if doing rebuild on all 4 will be cost effective , or just a piece at the time QUESTION;;; will a backfire blow a diaphram on this 1st gen,,, like a holley carb does power valves. on a racing motor????...used to keep spares of those is there anything i can make my own diaphrams out of????
Flyinfool Posted June 4, 2013 #5 Posted June 4, 2013 People have been known to fix small holes in the diaphragms with either RTV or liquid electrical tape. this is just a temporary fix.
