The other week I worked a lot of overtime so I spent it on a new back tire and helmet does any one have this and what are the reviews. I got a Shinko Tour master 230 I know people don't like Shinko but I put one on my front and it was so much better than my Dunlop E2 and so much better than Pirelli's that came with the bike.

The Shinko 230 Tourmaster is a decent tire for a great price. I have had several sets of them and right now I have a set that is on an '83 I have. The rear generally doesn't last a long time, I got 7500 miles out of my last one. That being said, the front went over 12K for mileage and they stick like glue. They are a softer compound so this is why they dont get a lot of miles.

I have just purchased a different set of Shinko's for my '86, the 777 and I like the cuts on them. I dont expect to get a lot of mileage out of them either, the compound is soft, but I expect that the performance will be very good. The 777's cost me $168 shipped to my door through motorcycle superstores warehouse. My next set of tires for the '86 will probably be the Avon Venoms, which I have used for years. I just cheaped out this time and went for the different Shinkos so I could comment on how they perform and last.

I have been running Shinko's on my 83 1st Gen and my V Star 1300. I got about 10,000 miles out of the Shinko 747 that was on the V Star and I just replaced it with another Shinko 777, got it for a decent price, The 83 is still on its 1st Shinko and the front on that one was replaced by Jamie with a 777 also, the rear Shinko has about 4,000 miles on it and still has good tread on it. I like the way they handle, but when they get down to the wear bars, they go away really fast. I think they are a pretty good value for what you get. But they are going up like everything else. I only paid about $176.00 for both when I put them on the V Star the first time.

My wife and I both have full coverage Gmax helmets, I like the way they fit and dont rip my ears off like most of the others I have tried on. I have had mine for about 3 years and just got the wifey a new one, hers has more vents and led's out back to make the rider more visible at night. Got both of them on sale at different times for under $100.00. I think you will like the Gmax.

On a different bike a 09 900 vulcan I put a shinko on it. I think I had 5k on it when traded the bike. At the time it looked almost as good as new. It was considerably cheaper than the Pirellis I had been using. It was definatly in the running when I changed tires last year on the RSV. Just so happened that when I was ready to pull the trigger I was doing one last price check of the usual places guys order from and Jake WIlson had some sort of smokin deal. Otherwise it would have been Motorcycle Superstore. They have consitantly for me had the best prices. I went with the Michelin Commander II.

On a side note. The guys that have to unfortunatly store thier bikes over the winter, I was thinking even if the Shinko got the 7-8k milage out might not be such a bad thing. You could put a new one on at beginning of season ride all season, store it with last years tire and if need be put a new one on for the up comming year once the snow melts.
