wecruz Posted June 2, 2013 #1 Posted June 2, 2013 Does anyone know if there is a fuse that goes to the cms, mine is a 1988 royal My warning light fuel gauge and clock are all out. Thanks allen
Flyinfool Posted June 2, 2013 #2 Posted June 2, 2013 Does the voltmeter in the dash work? Voltmeter is on the same fuse. Sounds more like it could be a ground issue.
dingy Posted June 2, 2013 #3 Posted June 2, 2013 Does anyone know if there is a fuse that goes to the cms, mine is a 1988 royal My warning light fuel gauge and clock are all out. Thanks allen Signal fuse, only 20 amp one on the 86-93's Horns, tach, volt thermo, CMU all run on this fuse. Gary
wecruz Posted June 2, 2013 Author #4 Posted June 2, 2013 any guesses where this ground issue might occur?
dingy Posted June 2, 2013 #5 Posted June 2, 2013 any guesses where this ground issue might occur? Not really. Ground gremlins are very sneaky. Gary
dacheedah Posted June 2, 2013 #6 Posted June 2, 2013 put in a test ground, spike the wire at each connector, if it works at the device move back until it doesn't and you have isolated that. I would check fuse and the serviceability of the fuse holder first.
wecruz Posted June 2, 2013 Author #8 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) used a test light and found there is ground in the large plug on the back of the cms Edited June 2, 2013 by wecruz
Squidley Posted June 2, 2013 #9 Posted June 2, 2013 Try unplugging the wire harness from the back of the dash and look at the connectors. Look for obvious corrosion and broken wires/spades. Let us know how it looks, electrical gremlins suck!
wecruz Posted June 8, 2013 Author #10 Posted June 8, 2013 plugs and terminals all looked like brand new as well as the boards....
Rocket Posted June 8, 2013 #11 Posted June 8, 2013 plugs and terminals all looked like brand new as well as the boards.... Check for cracks on the solder joints, on the backside of the CMS plug terminal. These were known for cold solder joints, just like the CLASS Controller, in the right fairing. Check the tech library, for instructions, to fix these issues.
