chocking Posted May 31, 2013 #1 Posted May 31, 2013 Hi, 5 days before I head out to Banff and points west for 20 days, I get caught in a torrential downpour and storm..In the midst of my left blinker went out..Right one works fine on front and back... When I turn the left on one..everything including bright indicator, neutral indicator, headlight and right and left blinker all begin to lightly blink..neither rear do anything Checked bulbs first as a possible .. they are fine... opinions....???? Could it be the flasher? What could possibly have gotten wet and cuased this.. Help..Need this fixed before trip Clay
muffinman Posted May 31, 2013 #2 Posted May 31, 2013 It sounds like the relay is full of water its behind the left front turn signal I have had to remove the cover and drain mine then tie it up to the fairing stay to keep it from getting water in it. Jeff
chocking Posted May 31, 2013 Author #3 Posted May 31, 2013 Thanks Jeff, I did take the cover off and disconnect the plug...Do you mean the plug or is there a relay hidden back under the outer fairing.. It's pretty obvious that water got somewhere it should'nt be , but I want to find out where so I can prevent it again. Why would that cause all the lights to go crazy..I' did not think that the computer lights and the indicator lights would be on the same circuit..Forgive me for my total lack of electrical knowledge.. Thanks Clay
chocking Posted June 1, 2013 Author #5 Posted June 1, 2013 uh yea... thought about the fluid..then dismissed that..I think enough liquid got in somewhere....Now neither blinker works... How available is a new flasher for the first gens? ...or the auto blinker shut off timer?
pmelah Posted June 3, 2013 #6 Posted June 3, 2013 well its just got to be low on blinker fluid..... and blinker fluid dont mix with water to well i tried looking at the parts catalog for which relay it would be but cant find it i have to take my fairing apart anyway so maybe i can find it or someone who knows will chime in as to witch one it is
Flyinfool Posted June 3, 2013 #7 Posted June 3, 2013 uh yea... thought about the fluid..then dismissed that..I think enough liquid got in somewhere....Now neither blinker works... How available is a new flasher for the first gens? ...or the auto blinker shut off timer? The flasher relay and self cancel are both part of the same module.
