cowpuc Posted May 31, 2013 #1 Posted May 31, 2013 Last year my wife and I were on our way home from a two month, 17k mile cross country tour on our old 83 Venture. We were in Sturgis during the rally and changing our oil in a car parts place on the west end of town. Our old bike is covered in stickers from all over the country, tent on rack on back (well worn). A gentleman from this group came up and introduced himself, checked to make sure all was well.. If he see this,, just wanted to say HI, thanks for checkin on us and tell you all is well as we plan for another GREAT riding season!!!!! Hope you see this!!
dacheedah Posted May 31, 2013 #2 Posted May 31, 2013 awesome and a great group here scattered from all over and always someone who knows about those lil gremlins that creep in. Will ya be headed to MD or the international??
Dragonslayer Posted May 31, 2013 #3 Posted May 31, 2013 Could have been TX2sturgis he is in Sturgis every year from Amarillo, Texas.
cowpuc Posted May 31, 2013 Author #4 Posted May 31, 2013 Oh yea, been LOTS of chatter here about both MD and the international,, got kids out in Sacremento (grand kids too) counting down the days that would rather have us heading out there than taking time to stop along the way BUT hey - nothing wrong with having it all,, this aging thing aint that bad All the reading I have done about both "parties" sound like a BLAST to us!! No it wasnt TX from Texas we met, but I sure look forward to meeting him - maybe this year cause the wife and I are taking the South by Southwest route during the summer this year.. That Brian is my kinda guy - cant get enough of the huge variety of bikes out there - loves em all..
Phoneman1981 Posted June 1, 2013 #5 Posted June 1, 2013 I never miss a chance to meet or recruit new members. Sturgis can be a difficult place to meet or find one another. What worked good for us was to plan a meeting time and place ahead of the rally. Several of us met on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 9:00 for breakfast at the Sturgis High School. Easy to find, plenty of parking and great food. Just look for the cluster of Yamaha's parked together. The school staff saved us a table with Venturerider.org on it. Great way to meet one another. Dludke, TX2 Sturgis, BJ66, Patrolman46 and Myself met up one morning. I hope I have not left anyone out?? Hope someone keeps the breakfast meetings going. We will not likely make Sturgis this year. Choosing to make Galena instead. Just not enough vacation time and money to make everything.
