pegscraper Posted February 14, 2008 #1 Posted February 14, 2008 I'm thinking I've read where some of you have taken the power plug off of the tank and put it somewhere else less unsightly. I'd like to know where some of you have put it.
RoadKill Posted February 14, 2008 #2 Posted February 14, 2008 I'm thinking I've read where some of you have taken the power plug off of the tank and put it somewhere else less unsightly. I'd like to know where some of you have put it. Are you referring to the CB/Intercom connection? If so, some have routed under the tank to behind/beside the seat, left side and some on the handlebars. I have mine on the bars now, but thinking about moving it to the tuxedo tie or the black cover around the gas cap. Its on my list of things to do before riding season officially gets started again.
KeithR Posted February 14, 2008 #3 Posted February 14, 2008 I mounted mine to the side of the pouch on my tank tie using the clip that was glued to the tank. Keith
ventureblue Posted February 14, 2008 #4 Posted February 14, 2008 how hard and how did you remove the glue from the mounts?
Eck Posted February 14, 2008 #5 Posted February 14, 2008 how hard and how did you remove the glue from the mounts? Its simple really. You can use "Goo-B-Gone", or I myself spray WD-40 onto a clean cotton cloth and wipe th eglue right off.. Niether on eharms the paint
pegscraper Posted February 14, 2008 Author #6 Posted February 14, 2008 Okay, I guess it's a CB/intercom connection. My bike, being a "Venture lite", doesn't have the thing, so I didn't know what it was for sure. How is it attached to the handlebars, or underneath the seat?
SaltyDawg Posted February 14, 2008 #7 Posted February 14, 2008 I ran mine up the left side of the handlebar and used Velcro straps to hold it there. It keeps the cord off the tank. On my first 99 the tank got scratched by the cord rubbing back and forth across it.
ediddy Posted February 14, 2008 #8 Posted February 14, 2008 I mounted mine on the black cover to the left of the gas cap. I bought some double sided tape from wal mart and stuck it on the clip and it holds fine.
hig4s Posted February 14, 2008 #9 Posted February 14, 2008 I ran mine up the handlebar on the left side, just wound it in with the other wires.
GunnyButch Posted February 15, 2008 #10 Posted February 15, 2008 Mine too is re-routed up the left handlebar along with the other control cables. It takes longer to open and close the fairing than moving the intercom plug. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/gunnybutch/P1010004-1.jpg
