Jeff, I think you said you were leaving at 0300. About what time would you be reaching Portage, IN on I-80/90? I have been planning to leave my place about 0700 Friday, reaching Portage about 0900. But a chance to ride with you may make me adjust my timing.
Flyinfool Posted May 30, 2013 #5 Posted May 30, 2013 Kevin If you will heading across I80, our first gas stop is at the "Chicago Southland Lincoln Tollway Oasis" on I80/I294 at around 6:00am. There is a LOT of construction to get thru coming south out of WI so it is hard to predict exact travel time. I get lousy gas mileage pulling the trailer so I have to plan for stops at around 100 +/-20 miles. Sometimes my marshmallow butt or a DQ will dictate more often........ Did you know that there is a DQ in every rest stop thru Indiana? I hit every single one of them last year...... Randy I Was hoping to be at the Bob Evens restaurant on HY2 by Toledo at around 10:00 am.

Carbon_One Posted May 30, 2013 #8 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) Normally the Michigan crew and some Canadian's meet up at the truck stop just off of the south bound I-75 exit 15 near Monroe and then leave there around 10am. If we do that meeting Jeff/Flying Fool at Hy 2 in Ohio will give him a 20-30 minute butt rest till we get there. So who's all going to meet that Friday morning? I'll start a list here. Were you planning to take the superslab or go crosscountry? I had entertained the thought of avoiding I-80/94 by going through Kankakee and then pick up the Turnpike around LaPorte, IN; Via Kankakee, Momence, Valparaiso, Westville, etc. Thoughts?
dacheedah Posted May 31, 2013 #15 Posted May 31, 2013 last year we left here at about 5pm and did that, we hit traffic and knew we would but it seemed to take forever. we came back on 80 and I know the wife preferred that since it was much smoother and faster, used the ipass, hopin to make it to dinner.

So, is that a "NO" to going to LaPorte via Valparaiso? You're planning to go up I-57 to I-80? If I don't get to your place until 0845-0900, will I have missed you, then? What time were you planning on leaving Kankakee?

I am coming and can adjust my departure time to coincide with your desired departure time. I'll be pulling a trailer as well although I will be solo. Yes, I will be coming across on IL17.

Carbon_One Posted June 2, 2013 #22 Posted June 2, 2013 Keep in mind some are hooking up at the Exit 15 on I-75 with that group connecting at Hwy 2 & I-80 in Ohio meeting Jeff there. From there on towards Don's place. Meeting this group at either spot for anyone coming along the I-75 or I-80 corridor would work for them. If you're sure you want to join either one let us know so we can wait a bit if you're delayed. Larry

We'll be at my Dads and leaving from there to head to Don's. If it works out, we'll hook up with the caravan and follow y'all down into Ohio.
