Don't have a pic, not sure if a useful one one can be taken.

 

The positive battery cable is connected directly to it between the left fairing and the battery. From that connection there is a large wire going down to the starter. Doesn't look like a solenoid to me but can't see it very well.

 

Was cleaning up trying to reduce the clutter attached to the POS terminal and thought that connection would be a good place to hook up the POS buss strip I had installed for powering some relays and the R/R. Found out it wasn't a good choice when there was no charging and the volt meter dropped like a rock into the yellow in about 30 seconds of running.

 

Expect someone knows what I'm referring to.

That sounds like the starter solenoid: two chunky wires and a smaller cable with a four pin connector. Also two big 30A fuses on it. That's it.

Yuppers, that's the one. Thought it might be the starter solenoid but I can only see the two large connection points so it didn't look like a solenoid to me.

 

Thanks for clearing that up for me. It's always good to know where things are located if, or better, when the time comes to fix it. :thumbsup2:

When you get a chance replace the OEM main fuse with a Maxi fuse. I found out the hard way that the OEM fuse holder was supposed to have a spare fuse link in it. Of course, when mine blew out, it didn't. The maxi's are a lot easier to replace when you need to.

 

Not like the mains blow out all the time but when they do.......... where ya at?

This bunch is the reason I've never been stranded on the bike. I've been able to catch most the weak spots before they failed, or at least be prepared for them.

I replaced mine with a 30amp circuit breaker that resets itself after cooling off. The blade connection is retained for quick disconnect such as storage or service purposes.

Yes, good advice. Had a look at my main fuse and there are two or three spare links in the slot but the cover is held together with electrical tape so an upgrade will be in it's future.

mine don't have any spares but once back to work i plan on doing the upgrade to a circuit breaker or maxi fuse either way it will be done and mike im waiting for the day i can say done that done that done that too and hopefully it will be soon :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot:
