usedcyclesales Posted May 28, 2013 #1 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) 2003 Venture 4000 miles starts and runs perfect. . I found the fuel leak (See PIC) it's the nipple looking thing on the left and it's coming out the tiny pin hole WHEN THE BIKE IS RUNNING. I've banged on the carb (in case float stuck) and There's nothing in service manual that shows what that part is so I'm not sure if it can be replaced??? or if it's loose??? Is it overflow screw???. And if it is overflow screw and it's bad how do you buy one when Dealer diagram shows nothing there. (I called them Saturday) And if it is just loose how do you tighten it??? Sorry to bother you guys again but I've checked past forums on this site and others and not a single diagram or picture that shows the back side of the carb float bowl and tells you what those to brass fittings are. Looks like the leak could be from the bowl drain screw. Maybe just needs tighting. The brass tapered cover is to the pilot screw. They have to come off to adjust them. I wouldn't think it would be leaking from them.
skydoc_17 Posted May 28, 2013 #4 Posted May 28, 2013 That's a tuff place to try to get a clear pic of. That appears to be the Float Bowl Drain Screw. If it is, then there will be an O'Ring on the screw. If it has been overtightened, then the O'Ring has been crushed, or torn and needs to be replaced. That's going to be a Metric O'Ring, and a Viton ring would be best. Yamaha sells that screw, O'ring assy. Part # is 4KP-14191-00-00. Hope this helps. Earl

The tapered one which is on the left and has a pin hole in it IS where it's leaking from, it's not coming from the outer sides it REALLY looks as though it's coming out the pin hole. I'm gonna start it up later and make an attemtp at taking a picture of it actually leaking.

Being where it is and getting the tapered cover off first is gonna be tricky. The o-ring might not come off withe screw and you'd have to get in there with a VERY small hook to get it out. May end up taking the carb's off??

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!:cool10: Having the part # (Which 2 dealers DID NOT HAVE) I googled it and there were about 20 part sites that have it but I found one that has a very faint diagram picture of it and I'm 99% sure that's NOT it (the drain plug). The one on the RIGHT is a DRAIN PLUG and the one on the left is an overflow plug all I have to do now is attempt to tighten it and if it's not loose replace it. After I called another dealer the service tech said it was the overflow I described it and he said "yeah that's it its an overflow or drain plug whatever ya wanta call it" so I ask what's the one on the right? He had no clue. LOLOLOLOL!!!!!! I'd go there and look at the part(drain plug) but no one has it in stock. Well there's only one that even looks like it can be tightened or removed so. that looks like my best shot THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP Edited May 28, 2013 by usedcyclesales
