ediddy Posted May 27, 2013 #1 Posted May 27, 2013 I previously asked about a good gps and it seems the 765t was used most and everyone was pleased with this model. Went on line to buy and it has been discontinued. Couldn't find any info on the replacement. Anyone know about this?
Prairiehammer Posted May 27, 2013 #3 Posted May 27, 2013 Sorry, should have mentioned that the 765T has been discontinued for several years. Good deals are to be had on eBay. I got mine there complete as from the factory with all factory bundled accessories and cables in the original box with paperwork AND Lifetime Maps with latest City Navigator North America 2013 map ($80 value from Garmin) for $79.99 plus nominal shipping. Just keep an eye out and be patient.
ragtop69gs Posted May 28, 2013 #4 Posted May 28, 2013 I bought my latest one off ebay, I got it with lifetime maps also. The previous owner gave me all of the garmin registration info for the unit so I could continue to get the map updates, otherwise the NuMaps update does not transfer to the next owner. The unit was like new, came with all OEM mounts, box & documentation, I paid $149 for it shipped. If you don't care about updates they can be had starting at about 50 and up for a working unit.
Barrycuda Posted May 28, 2013 #5 Posted May 28, 2013 Like previously stated I bought mine off eBay just as long as a month ago. It's a fine GPS and worth getting if you are not into dropping a lot of dough on a zumo...
djh3 Posted May 28, 2013 #6 Posted May 28, 2013 I didnt get the lifetime maps as I figured the way our government works it would take them 20yr to build anything new. Its a good unit, if you find one that is a refurb you can usually get extended warrenty thru square trade for about $15 for 2 yr. I only paid about $50-60 for the unit. It is getting almost impossible to find a unit that has an aux out port and is able to import routes. I think they are trying to force folks into the motorcycle specific models.

We have found several times when the GPS showed us riding thru a lake or farm field because of new roads. Makes a difference if you route plan or let the GPS plot the route. These units are mostly circa 2008 so in the 5-6 years they've been out there have been some new roadways built. Yep, Garmin is trying to push everyone towards the more expensive units.
djh3 Posted May 28, 2013 #8 Posted May 28, 2013 Right now me and my garmin are having a fight. I made a planned route to go up a couple hours to Midnight V4 to pick up a carb tool. Pretty simple eh? Try to import and the route will not show up in the "import" are so I cant even put it in the "custom route" I ended up going to google maps and doing the route and then importing thru garmin site. Anybody ever bought the map update off e-bay on the sd card? I see them everyonce in awhile on craigs list too for like $20.

They load to your SD card (I think the folder is called "My Files") then you have to move them into custom routes.
