rickardracing Posted May 27, 2013 #1 Posted May 27, 2013 I have a set of Samson turn outs on my 07 RSV. I love the pipes, but I also have a set of Harley pipes that I had on the bike before the Samsons. The Samsons are louder, but I love the turn out look. These are a one piece construction. Does anyone know of a service or a way to add some packing through the end to quiet them down a bit without cutting them?
ragtop69gs Posted May 27, 2013 #2 Posted May 27, 2013 I too have a set of Samson slash cut pipes . I love the sound, just not the volume. Especially when pulling the trailer.
rickardracing Posted May 27, 2013 Author #3 Posted May 27, 2013 Jay, I am going to contact Samson on Teusday to see if there is an option or a way to achieve this. Maybe I am being picky. I like the sound of the Harley pipes I drilled out. Not too loud, nice rumble. I did not realize how loud the Samsons are. They don't bother me back and forth to work or on day rides, but pulling the trailer and on vaca for a week, they are a bit much. I just want to quiet them down a touch. Just a little louder than the Harley's. Wonder if there was a way to bond packing inside. It would'nt take much.
ragtop69gs Posted May 27, 2013 #4 Posted May 27, 2013 I have a set of 2012 Ultra Glide pipes on the bike now, not drilled and they suit me just fine as is. If there's a way to quiet the Samsons without changing the tone I'd be interested.
ragtop69gs Posted May 27, 2013 #5 Posted May 27, 2013 Today @ 12 noon, ride leaving from larry's. Me, Jeannie, Joe, Mike & Larry.
Freebird Posted May 27, 2013 #6 Posted May 27, 2013 I used to have the turn out Samson's on my '99 but they were just way too loud. I then with with Khromewerks. They were a little better and you could repack them when they got a little louder over time. I felt that the Khromewerks were just better mufflers. I finally got tired of even that much noise though so ended up going back to stock. I installed a set of RSTD mufflers with the tips that can turn down or out. No louder than stock but I like the looks.
