I usually put 20w50 due to heat down here in Tampa but I am here in Montreal for the next little while and the temps here are not exactly the same as in Florida, I am due an oil change and will be doing 2000-3000mi so what kind do you recommend I put in my '07 RSV ? Thanks

Just use Shell Oil Co. ROTELLA T6 Synthetic...... good for all temps you would ride in. This one oil suites all your needs, including a decent price. Don't let the label fool you about diesel engines, as the oil is highly suited for mc's with hydraulic clutch. It is also better in high heat conditions as it transfers heat faster to the cooling system helping the engine run cooler.

The Rotella in either the Dino oil or T6 syn will work fine up there and down here. I like you prefer something a little thicker in summer here in Fla. Just looked on owners manual and it says the 20w50 is good down to 10c (50f) Are you looking at extended periods below that? Maybe opt for the 10w40, other wise run what you normally do. If you figure your going to change up there, ride some and come back youll probably be ready for an oil change not long after you get back anyways. sure hope I get some of that cool weather in Aug when I head up that way.

I'd just leave it 20-50.

Has been my experience that switching to a lower viscosity oil will increase the otherwise unnoticeable clutch whine to a howl...

Besides, the 20w will still allow for cold starts and after a few minutes it will be up to operating temp. IMHO.
