pulled radio apart today. found two chewed up wires repaired them and disassembled the rest of connectors sanded and lubed all. hooked up head set that came with bike. nothing so cleaned all connectors where they plug in all joints. played with them till all worked. my problem is you have to eat the mic to get sound out of it. if you blow on it will stop radio but have to put in mouth to get voices thru. how do ya clean microphone:think::confused07:

There is no mute button for the mike on a stock system.

What are you checking the mic with? Mic is for intercom or CB transmit, you won't be able to hear it through dash speakers.

trying to talk back and forth with each other. in helmets with radio playing in helmets. stops music. but mic has to be on lips for it to come through other helmet. otherwise stops music but no voice. dont have cb on bike but all the wiring and switches are there just no unit.

Try another head set that you know is working. Then you can a least narrow it down to the head set or the bike. Also check and make sure you have proper SWR match on the CB antenna. Or even if the antenna is a CB antenna. I have seen cases were the antenna was replaced, but by one from another bike that did not have a CB installed on the bike. The two antennas look and fit the same except that the CB model has a loading coil approx. 1/2 way up the antenna while the none CB one has no loading coil and is just a simple antenna.
