Hi guys, going on my trip to Montreal. My headlights are pulsating like a police bike cruiser!!! I think it is a bad ground. Has anyone experienced this? Do rsv have this problem? Thanks :)

Could be battery connection. But I think it could be a battery going bad or unfortunatly a stator. Not sure but it sounds like a surging in current. Starting with the battery connection is a safe bet.

Check for any modifications that have been done to this bike.

Check the lighting fuse . Maby bad connection there. But, Head and

tail, should be on different fuses. So should not be the problem if both head,

and tail are pulsing.

I would hook a voltmeter across the battery, put meter, in tank bag, and take a test drive, and monitor what the voltage level is doing.

However, it smells like a bad ground connection somplace,

I had a modulator installed on mine before I installed the HID. The expensive kits have an "automatic" eye on them to turn off the modulation (suposedly) when it gets dusk. Mine was a less expensive kit and I had just a toggle switch.

I didnt even think about the possiblity of a modulator. Good idea. Look for a switch maybe next to the one for the passing lights on the left side of faring below the aux power plug.

The only switch i see is under passenger seat and that is for the led lights . Switch is off, going to look under the fairing. I have no passing lights. I am going to get nailed in Canada, it is illegal in Canada to have pulsating lights ...... May need to remove fairing to find the modulator, or is it possible that it is installed somewhere else ?

Most modulators are wired to work only on high beam and you can turn it off by switching back to low beam. A light sensor should turn the modulator off at dusk. Don't know why your tail light would be modulating too.

Modulators are legal in Canada and everywhere else in North America as well under federal law.

If tail/running lights are affected also I think maybe its elsewhere. You may be able to look up thru the back of the faring by the adjuster on the left side. See if you can see the connector going to headlight bulb. Follow wires with your hand if you can and see if there is another relay like thing plugged in.

I never had just a miserable ride, weather wise from Cornwall, On to Montreal, Qc ..... 100 miles of pure hell !! Rain, cold, wind ..... OMG never again, should have stayed the night as soon as I got into Canada on I-81 !!

This week I am going to remove the front fairing and check to see if there is a module in it. I have not seen any switch. My buddy also was looking. Only non-OEM switch was for the LED, which on or off does not affect the pulsating lights.

Customs asked me why lights pulsating, told her bad ground or relay, she said , oh ok , have it fixed !!

Maybe this will help you to find it. Here is the Kisan Modulator I was going to have installed on my 85 but never did. https://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=2
