hilliss Posted February 12, 2008 #1 Posted February 12, 2008 Has Anybody Done This To Their Bike? I Had This On My Other Bike (valkyrie Interstate) - Huge Difference In Summer Riding. Was Thinking About Zipping An Opening In The Fairing And Installing A Vent On Each Side For Summer Riding.
1BigDog Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Posted February 12, 2008 Those lower fairings hide a bunch of electronics under the skin. I dont think you will be able to add that vent. Yamaha sells a wind deflector for the lowers however.
hilliss Posted February 12, 2008 Author #3 Posted February 12, 2008 Good point. I was thinking about venting into channel so that anything that came into the vent, could only come out through the channel directly to the rider - and in that way, miss any electronics.
1BigDog Posted February 12, 2008 #4 Posted February 12, 2008 Not trying to be a spoil sport here but this question has come up many times and so far as I know, nobody had any luck with it.
hilliss Posted February 12, 2008 Author #5 Posted February 12, 2008 Your not a "spoilsport" that is what these forums are for right? Thinking out loud and bouncing ideas off other folks. I appreciate it.
KiteSquid Posted February 13, 2008 #6 Posted February 13, 2008 what might work would be to figure out a way to duct the hot air coming off the radiator under the bike, behind the operator... or to move the radiator to the back of the bike. Also, look at how a Honda Goldwing handles it's hot air from the radiator.... either on the rider in the winter or off the rider in the summer. BTW how does the Honda Valkyrie Interstate compare to the RSV??? I looked hard for a Valkyrie Interstate before I purchased my RSV, but all the ones in my area were ragged out and asking top dollar.... I saw low mileage Waikerie Interstates for good prices, but they were too far away from me to think about purchasing....
rsstar Posted February 14, 2008 #7 Posted February 14, 2008 Add the Yamaha air deflectors. I had them on my 06 and they worked really good. THey also helped to block rain/cold air when "closed". And they look good also. Matches the contour of the lowers perfectly.
