GigaWhiskey Posted February 12, 2008 #2 Posted February 12, 2008 After reading those articles, I think he wants one of his own.
Yammer Dan Posted February 12, 2008 #3 Posted February 12, 2008 Does he want a 1st Gen or 2nd?? Impressed by both of course. Good reading makes me want to look at a 2nd Gen again.. Just so I know how much better off I am............
wolfman1 Posted February 12, 2008 #4 Posted February 12, 2008 Can't resist, can you Yammer? :rotf::rotf:We all still hold out hope for you that someday, you'll come to your senses, understand the folly of your way and move up to a 2nd gen... Have a good one today and be careful where you work. Steve
Eddy Posted February 12, 2008 #5 Posted February 12, 2008 I've seen several joking posts about the two different bikes and I really love my 2007 Venture. I probably wouldn't race a 1st generation but I do have a 97 Valkyrie that I believe would blister a 1st generation... ha ha Eddie Flinchum

Yammer Dan Posted February 13, 2008 #7 Posted February 13, 2008 Keep it around we need some practice!!
eagleeye Posted February 13, 2008 #8 Posted February 13, 2008 Cool articles for sure.--------Don't see him talking about one of those plastic 1st gens though. Motorcycles just weren't meant to be PLASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! And I even have one---:rotf: Not for long though. Steve
mraf Posted February 13, 2008 #9 Posted February 13, 2008 Lets see did some quick looking and it said the Valkyrie does Honda F6C Valkyrie 1998 89 12.0 107 the 1/4 mile in , in the Venture history it says that the 83 venture runs the 1/4 mile in 12.6. Maybe just maybe, it would be a good race to watch. I don't have a 2nd gen but doesn't the cyl heads have fins that are made of plastic to make it look air cooled? If so, I have to say beauty {as far as plastic goes} is in the eye of the beholder.
tazmocycle Posted February 13, 2008 Author #10 Posted February 13, 2008 hope you wasn't talking about me wanting one!! i had a 01 that i wrecked in 05, hope to get another one in future!! if you read the whole article, he did mention the 1st gens being made to go against the goldwings. the reason i posed it was that i have read several articles about these bike and they write that they don't have good power and shimmy and shake when you put the gas to them, they try to ride them like v-twins.
Condor Posted February 13, 2008 #11 Posted February 13, 2008 What's with the link to the venturers.org. Somebody needs to write the author and explain a few things to him..... Where's Guido when you need him....
GeorgeS Posted February 13, 2008 #12 Posted February 13, 2008 After, 15 years of rideing the the old 89, I have realized something about this bike. It has really grown on me, as they say. Sort of a love hate relationship, as they say. I might buy a new one, but this one will probably still be sitting in my garage when they haul me off, to whereever that happens to be. I have a ball driveing the Busa, but for some reason I have just as much fun on the twistie's with the 89. Whatever, maby couple of years I will be looking for a good used 2nd gen, with all the Mods, and upgrades ( just like on the 1st gen's)
Freebird Posted February 13, 2008 #13 Posted February 13, 2008 What's with the link to the venturers.org. Somebody needs to write the author and explain a few things to him..... Where's Guido when you need him.... That article was written several years ago, long before VentureRider.org existed. I remember it was pretty cools that the mentioned the link. Back then, they were the largest Venture site.
tazmocycle Posted February 13, 2008 Author #14 Posted February 13, 2008 i have read several other mag's reviews of the royal star line and most was comparing it to a harley as to the performance. you could tell by the way they stated the way the royal was running or handling that they wern't riding it right. i looked down the list of bike that motorcycle daily mag had test rode and their reviews, and they are well versed in differant mods of bikes and their performance. i think some are scared of the power and ad dollars that harley weilds around the motorcyle world and are reluctant to go against them when doing the reviews. there are many differant kind of riders and each should be able to get an honest and unbias review of all bikes. i have alway tried to give anybody an honest answer to any questions about any bike i have riden, and alway tell them to test out all that they think would suit them best and make their own choices. thats the reason i posted this on several forums i visit. I AIN'T SCARED!! LOL!! DON...
