Flashesbuck Posted May 16, 2013 #1 Posted May 16, 2013 so i think i just need to resolder my joints to make this CLASS system work?? [ame] [/ame] i have yet to get the system to let air out, but i can get the pump to come on and pump up, maybe
mother Posted May 16, 2013 #2 Posted May 16, 2013 when i bought my bike i had all kinds of codes displaying and could not get pressure. boy i was thinking the compressor was gone and all kinds of stuff. well i got on this site and low and behold, did a search and there was a step by step of how to pull out the control panel, disassemble and how to redo the solder joints. once you have done one and see how easy it comes apart, you can almost do another with your eyes closed i used a desolder tool that i happen to have and resoldered the joints and that was many years ago. i had trouble with one error code years later and redid the solder joints again and all fixed. good luck and welcome aboard cheers, Scott
Peder_y2k Posted May 16, 2013 #3 Posted May 16, 2013 Definately need to check the circuit board for the known broken solder connections issue. Resoldering is quite simple, just keep the heat down (10W tip) and short duration tip application, otherwise risk of burning circuits off the board. When I did mine, I just applied a spot of flux to each contact and applied heat without new solder and that worked fine for my application, then cleaned the flux away. Marcarl Posted May 16, 2013 #4 Posted May 16, 2013 You could start with cleaning the joints under the trunk, take them apart, spry them well with contact cleaner and then slide them back together, don't use dielectric grease, and see how that works. If not, soldering might be the answer.
Ride2much Posted May 16, 2013 #5 Posted May 16, 2013 :fingers-crossed-emoSame problem with my "86', I started down the resolder path, I tried the plug, unplug of the big white connector and everything is now working fine..cross my fingers it lasts..
