Well I found out why my Lft. front brake isn't working. When I took the plastic off for a new paint job I noticed the brake line is sniped and soldered shut.Question: Why would some one do that? Should I try to fix it or should I just use rear and right front brakes, they work good.

Thanks, Jerry

my first Venture, an '83 was missing the left caliper and rotor when i bought it. the PO said he took them off because of a warped rotor....said it stopped fine with out it. :confused24:

I disagreed. :no-no-no:

The rule of thumb for braking pressure is 30% for the rear and 70% for the front. By losing the left side front you are losing a chunk of that 70%.

Why did he do it? :rotf: Ya never know.

But I'd say fix it no doubt about it. You have opitions. Replace the line or install a delink kit and tie the two fronts together.

The PO probably cut the brake line as a cheap and easy way to disable the linked brakes. The problem is that the right brake alone is not very efficient on this 750 lb motorcycle! This is one of the reasons why I connected my front brakes together (search de-linking).

I would order two new custom front brake lines and stack them at the front master . . . :cool10:

If you want to replace line, I most likely have a used stock one lying around. Cheap.

It could be caliper is leaking also. I probably have used ones of those lying around.

Your best option is to delink front bakes.

Trust me on this, it doesn't stop good with two rotors. Even with all three rotors and standard brake set up, it sucks.

You are roughly 65 miles from me, ride on down and I will get you some parts.
