alvald83 Posted May 15, 2013 #1 Posted May 15, 2013 My oil icon came on for a little bit the other morning which has me a little worried for my upcoming long tripvto New Mexico. My oil level is good? Any ideas? (im thinking Cms or oil pump) Hopefully neither. Al
DragonRider Posted May 15, 2013 #2 Posted May 15, 2013 That happens occasionally on the 1st Gens, its not for oil pressure but for oil level. Just check your oil level, or it could be your sensor is going bad, which is what happend to mine, I changed it when I changed my transmission and that fixed it for me. Snaggletooth Posted May 15, 2013 #3 Posted May 15, 2013 Yep, even with the oil at the proper level in the sight glass under a hard acceleration the oil is forced to the rear of the sump and you will get a display warning for a short period of time. Pretty much normal behavior under those condtions.
GaryZ Posted May 15, 2013 #4 Posted May 15, 2013 Same for me. The oil warning seems to be more often when the engine is not fully warmed up . . .
tz89 Posted May 15, 2013 #5 Posted May 15, 2013 Plus the electrical connection can go bad. Mine comes on sometimes just cruising on a hot day. Scared me at first just after the I got the bike, but now that I always know the condition and quantity of the oil, I don't worry so much.
