federal database of all CCW people with photos. That ain't gonna happen either, although I believe it would be a step forward for our LEOS.

 

RETIRED from the state of PA and the state of WV. as a computer systems analyst III. Wanted to attach drivers license photos to state employees identification badges for a project that I was working on. NO GO... Do you realize our state troopers can't even get a photo when they run your tags so they would know who "should" be driving the car?

How many of you present your permit with your drivers license when requested by a LEO. I do everytime and only once was I asked where my weapon was at. All the other times they give it back and act unconcerned.

This has been my experience in AR., OK., and TX. sometimes I get the feeling that the officer thinks hey this is a law abiding citizen and cuts me some slack.

 

Driving a truck you get to meet them regularly.

 

In my firearms safety class and as stated by several of my leo friends (Ohio) if stopped by a leo for any reason, keep both hands on the steering wheel at 11 and 1 o'clock and when the leo approaches your window, immediately announce that you are/are not carrying and where it is located. Then follow instructions for safety of all involved.

That does not help. I get to the site, I click on things but there is no map, there is a blurb about a family who shot someone. That blurb is where the map should be I believe. Clicking on "Filter by gun laws" does nothing at all. No matter where I click or what I click I do not get a map. I'm assuming that it may require some older form of graphic plug-in.

It would be nice, but, I think a federal CCW law would have a greater chance of passing. After all, the feds provided the means to transport guns across state lines. If not for that, there would be huge difficulties "legally " traveling across the Unite states.

I have worked under STUPID, with STUPID. . . who were given instructions and incorrectly repeated it back to an instructor almost immediately at a training or shift briefing.

 

We LEO's are an awesome group but we also remember that within our ranks there are those who just ARE.

 

If you are carrying a weapon that is not safe with a round in the chamber, you just shouldn't be carrying that weapon. I remember an old Lieutenant that kept his hammer on an empty cylinder. We showed him you could not, would not fire without your finger on the locator button. Even pulled the hammer back, released with trigger and then taking our finger off the trigger let the hammer drop. Still had convinced himself that LEO's all over the country were shooting themselves in the foot without touching there weapons. Don't get me wrong there are some old crappy guns out their but anything worth carrying is worth carrying loaded. Chambering a round may be cool in the movies but the first thing a bad guy should hear is bang. . .

I agree completely. Average citizens need to know that when they are confronted with a life/death situation their adrenline level will skyrocket....this is NOT the time to be getting a round into the breech of your weapon. Seconds do count and you could lose your life while trying to get your firearm into the "ready to fire" mode.

I would also add this...IMHO...If you are NOT prepared to take a life then you should NOT be armed. Wounding a perp will get you nothing but a lawsuit. A dead perp cannot testify against you in the case of "justifiable homicide".

Boomer....who sez practicing "head shots" at the gun range is the way to prepare for a perp takedown.

I've been to 13 tactical training classes in the past 16 months. That counts for over 20K rounds 5.56, 12K rounds of 9mm, 3K rounds of 5.45 and 2K round 7.62 x 39. Classes taken in Colorado, Texas, Alabama, Louisianna, NC, and SC. Taught by Ron Pincus, Travis Haley, Chris Costa, Ron Avery, Sonny Puzikas, Chase Jenkins and more. Also to mention training with Seal Teams, SF, LEO's and ATF. Traveled with Full Magazines(no clips) and one in the chamber every mile on the road with exception of flying.

I keep websites bookmarked on my smart phone and tablet for quick references. Only once did I have an young LEO question me about my Class 3 SBR and Suppressor when he saw me unload my pelican case out of the back of my truck when I was checking into my hotel. Had my 5320.20's in hand, copies of my tax stamps. Young lad did not know what to do when I did the paper dump on him, so he changed the subject and fled off. Fellow class mate, ATF agent staying at same hotel only laughed at the situation. We all were wearing our tactical clothing, faces covered gun powder black, ammo cans as overnight bags!

You should see the faces of all the people whom stay at our hotels when 30 guys all toten gun cases, back packs and ammo cans into the hotels.
