luke000 Posted May 9, 2013 #1 Posted May 9, 2013 I am installing my Markland hitch on my bike and (other than electrical gremlins) I just need the new bolts for the muffler hanger (M10X1.25). Does anyone know what length I need? I think 100mm will be plenty and I just cut them down, I know i can not have them too long or I will crush the swingarm/ drive shaft. And for the nuts, should I get flange nuts or nylon lock nuts?
Flyinfool Posted May 9, 2013 #2 Posted May 9, 2013 I am not sure of the length that I used, but I did get longer than needed and cut them to length, I might have even had to run a die down them to get enough thread length. I did use nylon lock nuts. On my bike one of the factory frame mounted nuts was stripped by the PO and there was already a nut added to the inside. It is a PITA to get your fingers and tools in there to get the nut started and tightened.
Snaggletooth Posted May 9, 2013 #3 Posted May 9, 2013 When I did mine I just swapped out the stock bolts for some SAE ones with a fine thread that were about a 1/4" longer. Added a washer to head of the bolts to shorten it a bit and one to the inside and the NyLock nuts. Stuck a couple of chrome acorn caps on the heads of the bolts and called it good.
