And just what are you trying to start?

Who me? I'm innocent ! :rasberry:

Just thought the variation in cost was interesting between hospitals/regions.

Hmmm....Thank God I live in Arkansas. LOL.

As much fried food as I've eaten in my lifetime, I'm bound to pay that $3300.00 sometime in the future.

Your payin Don. Somewhere along the line. I've got a couple of friends north of the boarder. He pays like $500-600 or something stupid to licence his bike every year. And can only ride maybe 5 months if that. Smokes (which I dont care) are like what $6 a pack. MAkes sense though, if your gonna smoke sooner or later they WILL catch up to ya. But I asure you nothing is FREE. I just wish these do gooder policticians would quit using that word. Us working folks aint gettin nothing for free.

we see all the Canadians and other foreigners at our hospitals (University of Chicago, Loyola , Northwestern, Children, rehab institute of Chicago). Makes me wonder why pay if the free gig is soooo good??

Store bought smokes are $10 a pack, bike insurance on my '09 RSV is $1100/year, gas is $4.60/U.S. gallon, plate for the bike is $42/year, pay 13% sales tax...

But...I can go to the Dr or hospital and don't get charged for it. Might be longer wait times than elsewhere... but I won't go bankrupt or get cut off by insurance if I'm sick.

we Canadians pay all sorts of different forms of taxes.

licence plates

gas tax

prov.sales tax

federal sales tax

income tax

property tax

Capital gains tax

land transfer tax

liquor tax

cigarette tax

import duty

automobile air conditioner tax (on new purchase)

gas guzzler tax (on new purchase)

and probably a few more I can't remember.

in fact, I read somewhere that when you consider every form of tax, we do nothing but pay taxes until near the end of June. (so pretty close to 50% of total income)

After that we are working for ourselves.

But as stated....MOST medical is free. A heart attack might cost $75 for the ambulance.

Like I said, aint nothing "free" Its going to cost us some way. Belive me some folks down this way take this "land of the free" WAY to literal.

Yep, and when I do have a heart attack, I hope I am in the good ole US where there is second to none expert medical care. You get what you pay for and nothin is free; nothing.
