raidiator fan..how long?

hey everyone..how long does it take for your cooling fan to start spinning?? bought my RSTD last year and never noticed when it started to spin or if it even does! should it start when i turn on bike or does she wait till it gets HOT? feeling stupid here ...and thanks !

It has to get up to temperature can't remember exactly, then it will cycle on then off. Mine has to sit awhile before it kicks on.

It has to hit a certain temp before it cuts in, even here in Florida I seldom have in come on unless I am in traffic and the temps are over 80. Often times I never notice it is on.

 

You can check it by letting it sit and idle for an extended perod of time on a warm day, after 15 or so minutes of running with no air flow across the radiator the fan should come on. Mine almost always comes on before I am done with a carb synch, because I old and slow.

When it comes on sitting in traffic this summer if it ever gets here you will KNOW IT.
